I tweaked the tracklist and other WA albums to sync translations (for the better I hope).
Here is the old one for reference. Spoiler:
I couldn't quite get 3-02 though. Too much fluff in these titles. |

Quoted for truth. Wild Arms became famous for this starting with WA3.

Gun blaze (track 1-09) contains major bits from the main theme of Il buono, Il brutto, Il cattivo (or The good, The bad and The ugly, if you prefer) by Ennio Morricone towards the end of the loop. Shouldn't this be reflected in the composer credits?

WA music is certainly inspired by Morricone (for example check the WA1 map theme and "L'estasi dell'oro/The ecstasy of gold" from The good, The bad and The ugly), but I don't think some influenced bits are enough to credit him.

No no, what I'm saying is that the last part (and actually the beginning, too) of Gun blaze is lifted straight from the said score, note to note. And it's a long string of notes, not just influenced. Wouldn't have brought this up if it wasn't so obvious. We're talking about some five seconds here. Every composer is influenced by someone, but Naruke took it a bit further. It's not different from, say, GoldenEye 007 using the James Bond theme as a part of each tune, a case where I'd tag Monty Norman as a co-composer.
Still, it's up to the staff to decide where to draw the line. I've tagged them both as composers on this one (but not as artists, obviously) in my rips. |

I think the problem here is that we can't prove that it was intended. As obvious as it is, unless it is specifically stated, we shouldn't add a "featured composer" credit for what our ears take to be reminiscences, homages, and blatant rip-offs. Unless, of course, the entirety or majority of a piece/track is based on pre-existing material (of a single source), then we shouldn't assign credit.

Just a question about track 1-11: Port Irington. This town goes by the name of Port Rosalia in the game... could the Japanese be interpreted to match this or did they really change this one that much during localization?

The place is "Port Rosalia" in the Japanese game too.
Why the track is "Port Irington" (or variations) I have no clue. Maybe it changed mid-development. Btw, in case you are interested, what are (usually) called "drifters" in the US games are called "migratory birds" in JP instead. I left "migratory birds" in the tracklists since it made some of the dumber-sounding tracks about soaring and whatnot a bit more sensical, but maybe you prefer "drifter" instead. (also, Filgaia (US) > Fargaia (JP)) EDIT: from WA's creator, Port Rosalia was indeed named Port Irington mid-dev, but they forgot to change the track name. Spoiler:

Woah, I never realized that. But it makes a lot of sense...

Actually the terms used by the games changes a lot depending on which one you are playing and/or who translated it.
I *think* WA3 was the first game to use the term "drifter" as the original WA called them (or rather Rudy) a "Dream Chaser." I can't remember if WA2 used the term... if it did it probably would have only been used in regards to Kanon (Solid). A similar deal kind of revolves around Cecelia as well. In the first game she's generally dubbed the "princess sorceress" but in Alter code:F the game opts for the term "shaman" instead. I generally like the terms used by the original game cause I like it a lot more. |

Updated the catalog number, it was incorrectly listed as "KICA-1370~3" instead of "KICA-1370~73"
Edit: whoops, didn't realize that we aren't supposed to list all the numbers after the tilde, I've changed it back to "KICA-1370~3." Last edited by BlazingAbyss; Jul 16, 2020 at 09:53 PM. |

The Front Tray and Back Tray image descriptions were swapped. I've corrected them.
