I don't consider this a typo since "k" is the proper Romaji transliteration.

The variations section on each artist's page exists for that very reason. If the artist was even once credited as that mispelling, it has to be recorded as such in order to avoid future confusion. The correct name/romanization is still shown as the gold letters at the top, though. We just compile as much data as we can, that's all.

Yeah, as mentioned, the "variations" field is for truncations, spelling changes (or even capitalization style), i.e. names by which you can still identify the original artist; "aliases" are for names that do not bear any resemblence.
Although I should make it such that the family name / given name fields are also checked (in addition to the display name and variations) to determine whether the alias should be shown, since "Rika Matsumoto" isn't actually a variation. |
