Can I request a translation for this album? It'd be very useful to have. Thanks!

So what's the story on the Japanese tracklist? Those new edits with the unfinished codes look suspect to me.

http://www.famitsu.com/game/news/1216847_1124.html

Made some changes according to this. Last track is apparently "kiite" instead of "kiete".

I also changed the title to "Nameless Game" since that seems to be a popular translation. Apparently "Nanashi" has a double meaning, "na-nashi" for "nameless" and "nana-shi" for "seven(-day) death", a plot device in the game.

Oh, I copied kiete instead of kiite to show to my japanese teacher, my bad. Nameless seems to be the most popular translation, and I kind of like it more, but acording to my teacher, anonymous is more accurate.

Since ナナ&# ノ テ・eマ has a corrupted エ (that's "e" in romaji), I translated it to Thエme to show a corrupted english word. Don't you think it's better that way than leaving it like the current "The·me"?

Also I'm not a fan of "all caps for all words", the last track looks really weird that way, being like a message and all.

Secret Squirrel: In the game, people die because they played a cursed RPG game. It's a 8bit RPG game, the second track has a corrupted title name to reflect when the game goes all wrong (because of the curse) and the music becomes corrupted too. If you have iTunes I suggest you to listen to the previews of those tracks at http://www.square-enix.co.jp/music/sem/page/dl/

That makes sense. I've made the changes.

"Anonymous" is probably more accurate, but since "nanashi" seems to be referring to the game here rather than a person, "nameless" would fit better, I guess.

By the way, ナナ&# cuts off on the シ character, so maybe the equivalent is Namele&# (half of "less" is cut)? Name&# applies if we cut by last syllable.

Oh, I was thinking about that when I saw your last edit. Well, if you go by replacing a syllable, Name&# makes sense but then Thエme wouldn't be a fit...

Should we leave it as Namele&# Thエme then?

Yeah, this all makes sense now. Thanks for the explanation.

Although the game has not been announced outside of Japan yet, Square Enix registered the English name "Anonymous' Game" before the game was revealed. I guess we will have to wait until they release it overseas (if they do) to know the official English name.

If this is a case where one title is in all caps and not the others, then the title should be preserved in all caps as a style choice by the people behind the album, IMO.

I thought we had a style guide agreeing with that line of reasoning, but correct me if I'm wrong.

The original track is in Japanese, so it's a matter of styling the translation. In that case I'm not particular about the capitalization, although I generally try to follow the style of other tracks in the tracklist that are originally in English.

I changed the title back to Nanashi no Game to follow the more recent policy (?) of not using literal translations in titles.

Clever. Well, to me, at least.

I don't usually listen to 8-bit style music but "Nanashi no Theme" suits the game perfectly. It starts off as a Dragon Quest style typical happy town music (and the location the game characters start in appears to be a Dragon Quest style typical happy town) but after a minute or so, the music takes a very slight turn, hinting at feelings of loneliness, hopelessness and/or despair. Overall, the song is pretty mesmerising and enchanting.

As for the games, I finished both of them and can confirm the games achieve decent scares while making good use of sound, despite the hardware limitations. Apparently they've got pretty good plot twists too, but unfortunately, I can't confirm it because I don't understand Japanese.

Love this soundtrack. The first part of the main theme seems to be heavily inspired by Dragon Quest IV's "Homeland".
