The non drama tracks on there are definitely not the PC98 original sounds. I'd say they could rather be MIDIs from the Windows version, but it wasn't released until 1999.

PC Engine version ? I'd have to double check. Maybe it's an arrange album after all though ?

You can hear the PC98 tracks playing in the background of drama tracks, though ...

knowing it's an album from 1993, music is for any platforms before that date can be selected
platforms (according to wikipedia) could be PC-9801(PC98), DOS/V (--pc?), X68000(X68k), FM TOWNS(TOWNS --pc?)

even if the music coulda been reused in later versions, I doubt pc-engine should be selected

FM Towns used FM synthesis, if you were wondering.

huh, turns out the FM Towns had 2 soundchips (Ricoh RF5c68 and the YM2612), in addition to being able to play Redbook audio from the CDs. I think this is going off topic from what niki wrote though :P

Looks like Doukyuusei is getting a full remake which will be released on February 26th, 2021. This article doesn’t mention anything about the music being redone, but I think it’s likely. If so, I hope they release a soundtrack of the new arrangements. This game and its sequel have fantastic music.
