Default CDGM-10035: Tales of Phantasia 20th ANNIVERSARY SOUND BOX

Can someone with the power please set the number of CDs to 9 (didn't know that the form limits it to 4 max)? Also I guess http://vgmdb.net/album/53312 (which also needs to be set to 9 CDs) is supposed to be a child album of this, my workflow is different.

Yes the limited edition should be a child album.
By the way, you can add the missing discs from the Edit page, just keep clicking Add under Media Information until you reach the correct number. Only the Add Album form is limited to 4.

So "Add a Child Album" allows one to link an existing album? Seemed to create a new album so I didn't do it.

No "Add a Child Album" creates a new one, only staff can stitch two already existing albums together.

Hopefully there'll be an official composer breakdown! I wonder if there will follow more of this kind of anniversary albums. Would be cool!

Yeah, also hoping for a composer breakdown (and some interesting interviews). And I hope they include more obscure stuff as well, like Tamura's PS1 (along with Sakuraba's) solo, the SFC and the PSP ending music, the OP "sung" by a dog etc. Even better would be all the arrangements of the pieces in other later Tales games, but that seems to be out of the scope of the box.

if each version has 2 cds (sfc, ps and gba) so I wonder what will be the other 3 cds
could be narikiri dungeon x and the animation, but I doubt it'll be the case :/

Here's hoping for a "Premium" guest arrange disc of nothing but different versions of "Fighting of the Spirit".

I'm really wondering how they're possibly going to make this a 9 disc set.

*fears it will be 6 discs of drama and 3 discs of music*

anime ones are pretty good
never heard the game ones, but won't surprised if these ones are good

(from previous post, instead of animation ost I'd see 1 cd for narikiri dungeon actually)

2 discs for the original and unreleased SFC soundtrack, 2 discs for the PSX port (and 1999 soundtrack release), 1 disc for Narikiri Dungeon, 2 discs for it's remake Narikiri Dungeon X - which leaves 2 discs. I don't know if it will include the OVA soundtrack (which is 1 disc), but I doubt it. Maybe some arranged, additional or commercial stuff. Maybe a drama CD... oO. I could also be 2 discs for the GBA soundtrack, but it's basically a downgraded version of the original...

Wind up music box, not CD set music box.

Need to quote this as people regularly trip over this: PSX didn't get any soundtrack, said soundtrack has no game recording but the music run through different synths with synth programming ("arrangement") done by someone unrelated to the game (Toshiyuki Takizawa).

Yeah, this. Orgel sound-producing wind-up box. They aren't common bonus items.

(one would think S-E would've made one for FFV with Home, Sweet, Home. I'd pay top dollar for that.)

They specifically state this will include the original SFC/PS/GBA music, 2 loops (full vocal and karaoke tracks too).

Looped twice ToP has +3 hours of music. So more likely 1 hour per CD = 3 CDs per game, 3 versions = 9 CDs.

Comes with a special booklet with interviews and liner notes (but I wouldn't get my hopes up...).

(Clarice ship limited bonus: Yume-wa Owaranai music box, wut)

That's awesome. The only VGM music box I own is for the indie game "To The Moon." Certainly wouldn't mind having that.

But it looks like the base price is ... quite high. Not sure I can justify it on my limited budget these days.

I had seen that but as I don't know how that loop tracks work, I thought it was just a trick on the cd (like a sort of hidden program allowing the tracks to be looped, a la cccd but for loops)

They 'tried' it for Symphonia Chronicles soundtrack and did right for Zestiria, so I imagine they'll reveal credits for this one. This is a special release, so even more likely a chance for interviews too.
I asked Tamura on Facebook if it will say which composers did which song (using internet translation):

それはそれぞれの曲を作曲者教えてくれます場合は、知っていますか?

He responded:

作曲者はクレジットされています。

Not sure if that is as individual breakdowns or not, but seems hopeful...

What would be the best middleman service to use for this?

Article at http://www.gamer.ne.jp/news/201506240067/ says it will contain interviews with both Sakuraba and Tamura. I hope it's not the comments from the "PS1" soundtrack.

So I asked Tamura a follow up:

それは、作曲家の個々の曲のクレジットを意味するのでしょうか?

And his response was:

1曲ずつ、作曲者が書かれています。

Seems like a breakdown confirmed? (at least according to Facebook's built in Bing translator)

That sounds hopeful.

That said, both composers have written before they had trouble remembering which ones were their own songs. Just sayin'...!
