Welp this is somehow a warsaw score..........even though there are only literally 2 tracks that are orchestral. You could do everything else with small a ensemble. The japanese soundtrack business is strange indeed.

Amano must have had some leftover recording time when he was in Warsaw for Magi.

But the two Warsaw tracks he conducted are just orchestral versions of themes Shiro already composed for the show. That would mean the soundtrack for this particular anime was being worked on as late as Magi's score (as you said). I'm not familiar with this type of stuff but do they really plan that far ahead? I assume music isn't the first thing that gets worked on when it comes to making an anime since the composer is probably shown a great deal of footage first so they can set the tone correctly.

It's usually done in the later stages, around 1-3 months before the show airs. Kanno's Psycho-Pass 2 was recorded today, for example, and the show premieres in a month.
But it can be done months in advance too. Another example: Iwashiro's Gargantia score was recorded 2 months before the show was even announced and 6 months before the show aired. |
