Information gathered from a whole bunch of pages:
http://kosiro.hp.infoseek.co.jp/gmh/id2/2134.htm http://www.sonymusic.co.jp/Music/Inf...e/9707/cd.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghost_i..._Megatech_Body http://www.shirowledge.com/game.html http://homepage2.nifty.com/denki_kou...oundtrack.html http://www.amazon.co.jp/%E6%94%BB%E6.../dp/B0001HD2HA http://www.answers.com/topic/ghost-i...=entertainment There seem to be some inconsistencies with regards to the date it was issued, the catalog number, and the tracklist. Sony's official site for all the GitS game music albums has the release date as Jul 17, 1997, and the catalog number as SRJS-6004~5. I don't think the album was ever actually released under this catalog number though. The correct one seems to be SYUM-031~2, which is the number I entered the album under in the database. J.G.M.L. also lists the Jul 17, 1997 release date, but Amazon and the Shiroknowledge site have it as Jul 26, 1997, which is the date I went with also (since the Shiroknowledge seems most reliable). Note that his photo's of the actual LPs look different from the ones pictured on this site though: http://homepage2.nifty.com/denki_kou...oundtrack.html Maybe more than one version was released? Lastly, the Wikipedia entry has a different name for track 4 of disc 2, namely "Mysterious Traveler (J.Q.Public Mix)" by System 7" instead of "TO BE OR NOT TO BE (J.Q.PUBLIC MiX)". The "Answers" page explains the track was mislabeled. Would it be preferable to use the correct name in the tracklist instead? |

It's preferable to use the tracklisting that's included on the album, even if it has errors. When an error does occur, just put a little explanation with the correct trackname in the Notes field.
It's possible that therewere 2 releases of the vinyl. However, both stems seem to be related to Sony, SYUM being Ki/oon Records, which is a sublabel, so it seems doubtful unless they were printed at different times. Perhaps they initially announced it on one, but printed it using the other. |

Thanks for the insight. Do you think it would be a good idea to make an entry for SRJS-6004~5 with a note that it was announced but probably never released? Might be a bit confusing for visitors though...

My copy of this album has the number 488290 1. It has a "S3" logo, trademark of Sony. The vinyl labels as well as front and back covers look the same as the current VGMdb pictures. It says "Made in Holland." It comes with two records in a single outer sleeve rather than a gatefold.
This seems to go along with the European CD release. |

This record is very good and the tracks are nice. You can count on Sony to press a vinyl right in my experience.
