Back in 1999 and 2000, I listened to a lot of the midi files posted at vgmusic.com. The files there have a distinct sound, which is sometimes superior to the NES originals. Your arrangements also have a distinct sound, completely different from the midi files at vgmusic, although they are clearly superior to the NES originals. I am reminded of Kikuta's latest efforts on his Secret of Mana upgrade album.
