Interesting way to separate the tracks... It'd make more sense to do the box set in sequential order via games, I'd think, rather than break it down by specific track types...

The tracks were separated almost same way on the 'old' Symphonic Suite Box.

But good to see a boxset like this, now only if I would get some money to actually get this. :P

Ten CDs is excessive. Could easily fit on eight...

when you know they can make albums with a bonus cd with one track (what a waste)

Well, they did that before so I assume it worked somehow - but I still don't get the approach. Who wants to listen to a disc with 17 versions of basically the same track?

it's a good way to hear the variations with years (and also how sugiyama can be "that" original ;p)
tho I'm not against the principle (it's like you have track 1 and then the following tracks are arrangements -no need of draque arrange albums)

It's perhaps not too late to reconsider the album title translation, and we still need to figure out what the disc 1 and disc 6 cover.

Yeah, I thought exactly the same. That's more like a (ingame) soundtest than something I consider a soundtrack.

Is there anything different on this box and the old ss box? New orchestra? Any new tracks. Besides the order, of course.

It's the Tokyo Metropolitan, whereas the old set was the London Philharmonic. Also, it will include the Dragon Quest VIII and IX suites, which were not composed yet when the original set was released.

And don't forget the orchestral ME collection :P

(Which is more enjoyable to listen to than one might expect)

I thought of something like "Re-arranged" in two meanings
1/ ordering of tracks
2/ new orchestra

I was wondering if we had a better translation of '場面別' as well as what '冒険のはじまり' on the disc 1 and '愛と哀しみ' on the disc 6 meant. I couldn't find the exact track names in the past releases. We could easily assume they'd be themes used in some opening or emotional event sequences, though.

As far as I'm aware, those are not in reference to specific track titles, but rather to broad categorizations.

As for general examples,

DQV's 愛の旋律/Melody of Love
DQVII's 愛する人へ / To My Loved One
DQVI's 哀しみのとき/Melancholy
DQVII's 哀しみの日々 / Days of Sadness

For 場面別, maybe we should go with "Categorized"?

Missed out on the first box set, sadly... Since I'm going to rip this anyway (so, track order isn't really a concern), this is an insta-buy.

Ugh. Awesome timing, releasing this within weeks of SD book. No way I can afford this, and it's going to go out of print in like, a day or two after release. Sigh.

Preorder it with something that comes out in the future. Pretty sure most retailers will hold the items for you if you choose the ship as one option. I ordered this with a bunch of stuff that comes out in november and I'm fairly confident I'll receive one.

Added the English tracklist as each disc features the tracks in Japanese and English. The exception is the ME tracks at the end of disc 10. In this case, I kept them in Japanese until they could be translated, but kept the overall classification of the tracklist as English.

In the staff credits, there's a few names with the Sugiyamae?? in parenthesis after it?

Producer
椙山之子 (スギヤマエ房)

Director
今枝朋子 (スギヤマエ房)

Maybe it's some sort of entity or something...

The エ should be 工, so スギヤマ工房 = Sugiyama Studio
指揮 would be conductor, I believe.

Now less symphonic suites and give us a proper DQ5 OST already. >:/

I hate scanning stuff with black backgrounds. It detects smudges and dust way too easily.

That said, I hope the scans are still of some value to someone, somewhere. Enjoy.

Why does the Japanese tracklisting have an extra track 4-16?

Wow, thanks for the scans Ramza. Terrific job. I sympathize with the hate for scanning black backgrounds. I remember spending something like an hour cleaning up my scan of the Il Mondo Dove e Finito il Tempo disc to get rid of all the marks, since the disc is black. Looks good, but I'll never do that again XD

Probably because it was originally input incorrectly as 16 tracks and you can't change it without deleting the entire thing and resubmitting. I'd do it but I don't want to verify 10 discs to make sure everything copy and pasted properly, and I had to turn of JP IME to install a game

I can do it tomorrow if a mod or staff member doesn't see this.

I've deleted the extra track, but I had to cheat to do it (directly deleted the row in the database.)

Seems to be referred to as "Sugiyama Kobo" rather than translated pretty regularly: [1] [2] [3] [4].
