Default Suggestion: "Sort by" switches in search results

I think it'd be nice to have up/down arrows in each field (catalog number, album title, release date) on search results page that, if clicked, would sort by that field in corresponding order.

This is a good idea, and one that I've wanted too, so I implemented it.

All of the sorts are forward order. I could add reverse order if it's worth it, but note that it'll have to be added to all of the other album browsing as well in order to be uniform across the site.

EDIT - Works for Simple Search now too. Wow, this is now the easiest way to browse a cat number run.

Any chance to add sort by release date?

If not, could you please look directly into database and tell me three or four earliest releases? I need them for my presentation about game music. Thanks.

You can do an advanced search for albums released on a date earlier than 1986.

Advanced search lets you craft and sort some pretty complicated searches, so people should take adavantage of it. Here's your search results:

EDIT - Fixed a bug that prevented the "sort by" unless you clicked on it from "Recent Searches." I guess most people were using it from Simple Search.

Somebody had requested this recently, so I added the standard reverse-sort behavior (i.e., clicking on the columns a second time reverses the sort order) to the advanced search results.
