Released in 1938. (can't be entered right now, same deal as WDX-101).

Isn't this too much of a stretch to be in a video game music database? Sure, it's a classic movie, but what does a 1970 recording have to do with video game music? I realize there are movies in this database such as "Doom" and "Tomb Raider" which are based on a video games. However, I don't see how nor why this is included here?

Animation. Had this talk several months ago. You missed it probably.

I still don't see why this is included here, even after you said "animation". You do realize that this is going into a category of the site called "anime", and that "anime" is a somewhat specific style of animation and this is nowhere near being close to that style? Not to mention, we should try to keep this somewhat related to the original purpose of the site. Yes, I understand that the original purpose of the site was VGM only, but anime was accepted because it has fairly close ties with video games, right? This has no ties with anything we've ever accepted. This really just doesn't belong here. I love the anime submissions, they're great, but next let's add the score to any movie that had CG parts to it, because that includes "animation".
Apparently I missed that discussion too, but c'mon guys, adding Disney stuff is lame. |

No. It's not 'anime'. It's animation. And this is western animation. You haven't noticed other DreamWorks, Pixar, Disney, Blue Sky Studios albums entries, have you? Mighty interesting. I mostly add them and I mod the rest. No pressure on other staff/trusted editors. And that's all.
Adding scores/singles to fan-servicey/soft-porn/borderline hentai/hentai anime (and hentai games) is lame in my books. But I don't complain about it. Last edited by Efendija; May 25, 2013 at 01:07 AM. |

You think it's lame to add game music to the game music database. Okay. By the way:

I'm not really against adding western animation, at least recent animation
but honestly, I don't see why very old animation scores should be added (I don't say it should never, but now?) maybe the focus should be on recent western animation, 90s~ but before that is just a way to say "hey guys look how awesome I am, I submitted albums from before the WWII" (to me ;p) seriously, I suggest deletion (no offense efendija) |

The attitude that 'anime' only refers to animation produced in Japan is self-imposed. アニメーション never referred to native material only. And I think this has been discussed in great details here before, but anime is just an abbreviated form of 'animation' and can refer to productions from both east and west. The boundaries of the definition of animation have been kinda layed out by SS in this thread. The 'CG' argument is therefore nonsense.
Indeed this is an example of oldschool hand-drawn animation technique, so it has every right to be included here ("VGMdb , the music of visual arts and games"). And even more when looked at from a historial POV. |

Cool interpretation, Phono, I never saw it that way.
I submit albums which have near complete information available (scans mostly included). I guess some people don't like "too old" entries? Why isn't Japanese animation only from 90s then (no offense phono)? Sure you would say no way Japanese animation is superior in every way possible and it is THE animation (as you think of animation as Japanese animation only anyway), and that's just an opinion, P. About this one in paricular, I found a blog with these images earlier this year (blog credited in the scans) info is good, can't be more complete for such old album. And again that's all. No deeper/hidden meaning or anything. How some people interprete these things is their complete freedom. It's usual with opinions. |

it's already not easy to find info about stuff from the 60s-70s
if you start submitting from the 30s, stuff should be limited to a certain date, my thought for 1965 and not before that date I don't even know if there is a way to know what dates (with album releases) are available for the calendar a gap of 30 years? I think it could be avoided |

There really should be an official statement. End this debate once and for all.
