Default N30D-021: secret of mana +

I once read this album has several sub-indexes that actually divide the single track in sections, though almost no player could use them.
Anybody could check that and post them?

How does one check that? EAC just shows one track (PSCN release).

Maybe it only shows the indexes in the .cue file, but I don't know too much about that sorry.

I finally found the original post mentioning it:
http://soundtrackcentral.com/forums/...d=41258#p41258

Could be it's just in the N30D-021 release?

(here is the original info by Alcahest, just in case the post implodes or something)

Code:
According to the first print CD "Index" marks (dunno if reprints have the embedded info too)

TITLE "Secret of Mana+"
  TRACK 01 AUDIO
    TITLE "Secret of Mana"
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
    INDEX 02 06:43:02

Thanks, curious that the indexes aren't exactly the same between releases...
I wonder if there are other albums that have indexes like this one. Other than using pregap/index 00-01 this is pretty unusual, usually players won't access them (I think).

EDIT: apparently this is Mana's box version of SoM:
Code:
TITLE "Secret of Mana+"
  TRACK 01 AUDIO
    TITLE "Secret Of Mana"
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
    INDEX 02 06:47:02

No, this is part of the original standard intended for accessing subsections of large tracks (think usual long orchestral pieces). Most CD players just didn't implement this particular feature so at some point CD mastering dropped support for it as well.

wikipedia on redbook
Quote:
Maximum number of index points (subdivisions of a track) is 99 with no maximum time limit

There are other soundtracks like this one with sub-indexes. The interesting thing about albums with only one track is the issue as a tracklist DISCID. Even though is not much to be retrieved concerning the track titles, is worth about artists, catalogue number etc...

Ok. I have had this album for years and have listened to it a bunch, but there is something I always wanted to know: What songs did Kikuta remix in this? I can tell Into the Thick of it and Steel and Snare and Angel's Fear, but I can't tell anything else, especially the Seiken Densetsu 3 songs that are supposedly in there.

SD2/SD3 themes make appearance in this order:

1. Angel's Fear (SD2/SD3)
2. the bassline from Secret of Mana (SD3 track 3.03)
3. Into the Thick of It (SD2)
3. Steel and Snare (SD2)
4. Ancient Dolphin (SD3)
5. Meridian Child (SD3)
6. Return to Forever (SD3) [the third part, which starts around 4:10; also, the melody is slightly based on The Wind Never Ceases from SD2]

The rest seems to be either original or evolved from base chord progressions/rhytmic figures/ostinatos from either score. The anthem at the end is definitely original. Anyway, this was compiled through a dry listen, so it may not be comprehensive. Someone else will probably chime in if I missed anything.

Kikuta did a AMA@reddit, explaning why this album (1993) uses music from Seiken Densetsu 3 (1995):

So I guess SD3 uses music from SoM+, in a way.

It always bugged me a little so there it is.

Yeah, that's what I thought. I am willing to bet many game soundtracks have material that was previously written and unpublished. I've got hundreds of midi files on my PC just waiting to be rescued.
