Anyone heard this ?
It's labelled as an Original Soundtrack yet it seems to have live intruments. So is this a PC Engine Redbook collection like Dracula X or is it actually an arranged CD ? Aside the short duration, should I expect this album to "rock my socks" ? Thanks for the answers ! |

Back in the day they usually released arranged albums instead of the original soundtrack, and this was released in that period of "back in the day", so maybe it is an arranged album*. I wish I could be more helpful, but sadly I have never listened to this album.
*Note that I'm not assuming it is. |

Oh well, I'm gonna chance it anyways ! I have had my share of excellent blind purchases in the past. Picking up Konami Perfect Selection Shooting Battle 1 as well so things should rock aplenty

I don't have this so I can't tell you for sure, but Nippon Columbia's other game albums published around this time were all either arranged or a combination of arrange + original, so that's probably the case here too. Yuzo Hayashi himself arranged music for a couple of those other albums too, Insector X and Fire Emblem.

I have a hunch it's a fully arranged album. And I've added World Heroes 2 Image Album and World Heroes 2 Jet Image Album to my absolutely final VGM order. My small collection was seriously lacking in the rockin' department. It's time to fix that !

Well, there's always a way to verify if this is arranged or not, which I'm guessing is by now: compare the music presented here with the original from the game. Not sure if you have access to it, but here's a good video to use as example.

Ok guys, I've finally received this. It's 100% arranged as speculated. And it is awesome as expected ! So glad I decided to give it a shot. The only flaw (if you can call it that) is its short duration of 37 minutes and 26 seconds.

After 6 months of owning this and not getting tired of it at all, this album has definite staying power. Perfect background music for any type of chores around the house
Surprisingly, Konami Perfect Shooting Battle, Samurai Spirits and World Heroes 2 Image Albums didn't share that staying power. Oh well. So this and FFVI OSV are my keepers :O Who would've thought ?! |

I still haven't heard this album myself, but I would suspect, based on the fact that Yuzo Hayashi is the arranger, that this is far better than average. Hayashi is also responsible for Insector X, one of my all-time favorites.

I'm greatly enjoying this album, as did Dragon God. I submitted scans and the insert is too large for my scanner, so I divided it into left and right sides.

Just wondering... Is "Chappy Hashimoto"... Masaki Hashimoto? It seems there's only this Hashimoto who worked for Human:

I guess? I've never heard of Masaki until now, but looking at the credits, he's been in several games with Tohru Hayashi so it sure seems like it.
