Default Obscure albums that needs some infos/debate

Hail.

I am creating this thread for a few reasons:

- For myself, as i will work to slowly add GMR albums on vgmdb and there are lots of albums we don't have much informations about.
This is a also a kind of "reminder" for me to not forgot i tryed in the past to enter that album/to fetch some infos.

- Lots of albums on GMR are not really related to VGM, and some are so obscure i can't even attach a game name on these albums.. that's why i am going to ask some help.

- This thread is also open to everyone that want to ask questions about some obscure albums they found and have little to no informations about.

I'll probably bump this thread often, adding newer entries of albums/catalog number i have a bad time to identify.

KECH-1037

水の守護神-ガーディアン- サイコロじかるゲームCD
mizunoshujokami (Guardian) Drama CD

GMR says it's a Drama CD, but it should translate to "Game CD".
The game name is probably "水の守護神", but i did not found anything good with it.
Here's covers i found in the past, the 3rd one with the Obi (a bit small but still readable ?) is probably the best hint i can provide.
front - back - front with obi

This actual YJA auction shows some cards... is it a card game and that's a CD for it or something like this?

KECH-1056

ノーザン・ヴァース
Northern Verse

Talk about an obsure album.. googling the catalog number will give you only one answer in Japanese.
And it does not help us much.. composer should be "新井智詞" (Tomoji Arai ?)

Any infos on that one ?

KECH-1137 / KECH-1138 / KECH-1139 / KECH-1161 / KECH-1162 / KECH-1163

CDドラマDUO 彼方から Vol.1~6
CD Drama DUO Kanata kara Vol. 1~6

These will be easier i think.. i've looked for "Kanata kara", and it's a Manga by Hikawa Kyoko, and these Drama CDs are related to the manga. I don't know any game related about it.
wiki manga article
fan site with good informations

I think we have to exclude these albums ?

The title is "Mizu no Shugokami Psychological Game CD", or if we follow the given reading, "Mizu no Guardian Psychological Game CD".

From the description on the obi, the CD itself is the game, kind of like those adventure books.

Masumi Ito is the composer/performer for the last track.

Regarding Northern Verse, this was a CD that I know Jodo Kast had been searching for for years. From this post, he says that he saw a picture of it in the liner notes of some other Koei album:

Kotenha has a few KOEI CDs that can be added to this database (421 total entries), but I'm not sure which are game related.

KECH-1081 / KECH-1086 / KECH-1090 / KECH-1091
CDドラマコレクションズ三国志 諸葛亮征嵐伝
Romance of the Three Kingdoms - Shokuzu Ryousei Arashiden Vol. 1~4

We have the first volume entered on the database at the moment..
But i am not sure it's related to the Videogame, it might be related to the 95's TV animation serie ?
These 4 albums were released the same year (95) and covers for the albums looks very "anime" to me
I also upped one cover with Obi (good hint..?) that could clear a few things ?

Should i enter the 3 other cds ?

KECH-1150 / KECH-1175 / KECH-1176

CDドラマDUO世紀末プライムミニスター
CD Drama DUO Seikimatsu Prime mini star
Should be in fact "Seikimatsu Prime Minister" ?

I think it is one of these "Manga-adapted-to-drama-cd".

Other infos are not so hard to find (cast..)
Not 100% sure yet but i think it should not be on vgmdb.
KOEI page about the 3 CDs

KECH-1152 / KECH-1153 / KECH-1154

CDドラマコレクションズ 封神演義
CD Drama Collections Houshin Engi Vol. 1~3
Vol. 1 Front / Back

Houshin Engi is a Manga (then adapted into an anime, and a video game).
I am not sure if the 3 drama cds are anime or video game related.

wiki article about Houshin Engi
KOEI page about the 3 CDs

23FC-8501 (Tape) / 23FB-8501 (Vinyl)

Bug-tte Honey
Bugってハニー

I know the game "Takahashi Meijin no Bug-tte Honey" on the NES, but i am wondering if this album is related to the game or the Anime (also on 86)... ?

I uploaded scans for the vinyl version (front - back)
, maybe that could help.
You can see "TV" near the title.

10FC-8002 (Tape) / 07FA-8002 (Vinyl)

Bug-tte Honey Love is a Merry Go Round
Bugってハニー 「愛はメリーゴーランド」

I exactly got the same questions for this album.
Here's the front cover picture

On the top of the album front, it says something about NTV TV Animation, so it looks like the anime. I wonder if the anime was based on the game, or if it's the other way around.

I remember studio trademarks on the title screen and the cartridge. So it could be the latter, like Nemo.

Regarding those Bug-tte Honey entries, it might help to compare with the SCDC-00464 booklet, as those seem to have been reprinted in this compilation.

Ok, i am over for the moment with "oldschool & cool" singles..

However, there's 2 singles i would like to enter, but i am lacking too much informations, so i am asking here if anyone could help/fetch some infos:

Both Singles are PROMO/Not for sale.

As usual i can at least provide pictures:

First one is related to Refrain Love ~I Want to Meet You~.
Second one is for Kyukyoku Sentai Dadandarn. (called Fight! Dadandarn, but that did not help me much)

More discs i'd like to include on the database.. but i am lacking too much informations:

a Kamaitachi no Yoru promo single (not for sale)
current YJA auction with some pics

Cyber Dragon original soundtrack
It's a Slot Machine by Yamasa (2001)

an extremely rare cd for the playstation game 10101: "Will" the Starship.
Saw it only once on YJA few years ago..
If someone could write down what is on the cover, maybe we could find more infos..

Looking a little more into Northern Verse, I found a Minor Koei Game discussion board on 2-chan. There is a post that seems relevant:
Quote:

My attempt at reading the 3rd paragraph:
Quote:
In those days, Northern Verse was quite anticipated, however suddenly advertisement stopped and ended up terminated which was regrettable. From what I saw with (my login?)(something about a considerable amount of content that had already been created?),
It seems likely that Northern Verse as a game never made it out of production. That would mean that the album was also most likely canceled. Given the mystique with which this album has been shrouded, we should probably put up a canceled release.

Go ahead and add those as game anim/film if you've got the info for them. if not, I'll put them up at some point, while I'm working through KOEI.

Oh my god. There's a CD SINGLE FOR DADANDARN OUT THERE?!

The game was known as Monster Mashers in the US, and uh, it's got a really, really weird main song. Think Power Rangers meets Go Nagai.

I presume the song in there is the one featured at 1:38 in this video?

@Myrkul: Looks like the promotional score that is floating around the net. Since John Debney is normally composing film scores, this seems to be one of those leaked promo recordings (usually happens a lot for film scores done by RCP (remote control production / Zimmer's team)).

Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb original score..

Anyone knows if this album is legit or it's a bootleg/fan made.. (it's sealed) ?

Current ebay auction

The catalog or serial the seller gives "ARK-CD20032008" leads to... nothing on google.

I wouldn't trust that guy. He's already sold 5 copies of that very CD, and that appears to be the case with most of his sales, so it's probably a fake. All of his negative feedback is for selling fakes (though the feedback come from 1 or maybe 2 buyers.)

That Battle unit ZEOTH album recently added made me think about another scan i had for a long time with no informations at all.

I noted "Irem 2nd album"..... i could not find any informations about it at that time, i don't know if it's an official release or a doujin or if it's a promo.

Bumping the thread cause i'll try to post a few more old soundtracks the following days..

-- 2009/08/31 --

TECD-20288

Here's a an old one from GMR..
Famicom Tsushin Presents Teraosaurs

Is this album related to any videogame (probably NES games if yes..) or not at all?
If i am Right, Famicom Tsushin is a very old Japanese Magazine.. (it's also a Japanese only NES accessory..)

This album is not listed in traditionnal Japanese VGM website.. (like JGML).

-- 2009/09/01 --

SCDC-00013

Ok, i don't know why GMR have this album titled "Lovely Star" but that's definitely not that...
センチメントの季節 or Sentiment no kisetsu (also known under the title Senchimento no kisetsu - season of sentiment) is a Manga by Nariko Enomoto.
The manga was latter ported to a TV Drama. (OP & ED of the TV Drama can be seen on youtube here)

I don't think there's a game for that title.. but we never know, if someone have informations let us know.

VECD-001
"Virgin Emotion - Original Image"

Again, here's something quite old.. and i can't find much informations about it (maybe cause i am not searching the right way?)

This album contains arrangements from diverse games.
Is this album a Doujin ?
Anyone got any other informations ?

FSCA-10078 / FSCA-10086

Both albums are often categorized as VGM albums... but they'r not.
It's known under the names "Voice Ranger" & "Voice Ranger Gaiden".

It's in fact called "Voicelugger".
It's a TV series in the style of Kamen Rider.. more info here or on wiki
I think we can forget the whole series and all First Smile related albums & singles.

-- 2009/09/23 --

TYCY-5477
"Television Tokyo Animation touma kishin den Oni"

I don't know why this album is often cataloged on VideoGameMusic websites.. (even on JGML)

It's clearly an album for the TV Animation serie (or OVA) for Touma Kishinden Oni, better known under the name of "The Legend of the Fierce Fighting God Oni".

If someone is able to explain any relationship with any game, let us know.

VICL-5255
"The Computer Music SC-55 Edition"

I am not sure it can be qualified as VGM..
It's more music that used computer sound. In this case the Roland SC-55, it's a MIDI synthesizer sound module.

What do you think about it?

VICL-5470
"Pulse!!, Golden Beat, ~ Bronze Bell"

There's not a single result on the Japanese google for that catalog number..
I have no idea what it is about, and it was probably cancelled?
If someone have more infos let us know.

TOCT-9262
Memories of PHANTASMAGORIA

Ok, i don't know why this album is often cataloged with VGM..
Maybe it's misleaded with Nobuo Uematsu's Phantasmagoria ?

Anyway it's related to another "Phantasmagoria", the whole japanese wiki about it is here
I am not sure but i don't think it's a videogame.. maybe a book or animated series.
If anyone can throw an eye there, let us know what is it about.

DMP-25 ?
"Taito DJ Station Extra Compilation"

A rare Zuntata CD i never saw before, and i have not any idea of it's original source or it's content.
Here's a short description in Japanese:
Quote:

I'll make an entry for this, the info on that album comes from Kairyu, who got it from ebay.
Release date is marked as August 21st, 1990.

It's got 5 tracks for a runtime of 21 mins, contents are talk-show style, so it's all commentary.

I'm not positive what product it came bundled with, but the date is the same as Taito GSM 5 -DJ Station- so it was likely attached as a bonus with that.

Edit: Duh, I looked at the bottom left of the front and it's got PCCB-00037 on it, so yeah it's attached to GSM 5.

Judging by the front scan on the entry it seems to be the same kind of packaging as the first print Twinbee Paradise 3 albums had.

Also what's up with the tracklist, Carl? =p

Apparently there was a soundtrack released for the 1994 Korean game Super Samtong (수퍼 샘통):

I was looking for some music related to Super Mario RPG Original Sound Version the other day and found that there's a Super Mario RPG Arranged Tracks. A simple Google search will yield many results for download links but there's almost no information about the album itself - a catalog number, album art, ect.

I did come across a Wiki page that states that Super Mario RPG Arranged Tracks was an official release by NTT Publishing (source) which may negate the idea that it's a Doujin / Fanmade arrangement. Also, I found one user comment at GameFAQs.com where the user states that it's an official release that came out at around the time the game was released (Source. User: Adamario 129).

All five songs can be heard here on YouTube:

What is "the box" that people are supposed to think outside of anyway? Hmm. Maybe it's similar to the Borg from Star Trek who dwelled as a collective hive-mind within a...box/cube. Those that deviated from this hive-mind would, in effect, be thinking outside of the box. it has both a figurative and a literal meaning.

A minor update regarding the Super Mario RPG Arranged Tracks. Apparently, from what was told, there are 10 tracks, not 5, on the official soundtrack. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks.

At this point I'm still not sold on it's existence, much less how many tracks are supposed to be on it. Can't find solid evidence that NTT released such a thing, so if I had to guess it'd be a doujin.
