-I was looking at Takayuki Aihara's message on Booklet pg. 6 [top half], and I noticed that "Shuttle Stage" and "Staff Roll" were mentioned. I think it's safe to say that Aihara composed Digital Ignition and rearranged Staff Roll from EX2 (his own composition).

On that note, keep in mind that, like EX plus alpha, most if not all of the previous compositions from EX2 were most likely arranged by their original composer. Therefore it is most likely that...

Shinji Hosoe: Select, Flash Train, Three Tree, Fake World, Pearl in the Sky, More Stronger, Continue

Ayako Saso: White Field, Lost Sea, Crowded Town, Crash Power Plant, Pasage of Lotus, Regenerate

Takayuki Aihara: Attract, Mahatma Temple with Hymn, The Infinite Earth, Amusementive Crime 2, Staff Roll, Stage Clear, Challenger, Game Over

As for the rest of the new 8 we head for the chat [Booklet 7-10]...

-The second time Shinji "Megaten" Hosoe [02] talks on Booklet 7, he mentions "Menu." Therefore he arranges his own for Select.
-As Shinji [02] talks from Booklet 7 to Booklet 8, he mentions "Train." Therefore he arranges his own for Flash Train. (Takayuki [00] brings up "Train" again the third time he talks on Booklet 10.)
-On the top of Booklet 8, when Takayuki "John99" Aihara [00] first talks, he mention "Staff Roll" again as well as "Goddess of Liberty." Looks like Irene is also his. (Yasuhisa [01] brings up "Goddess" again a few lines later.)
-The third time Ayako "AYA" Saso [04] talks on Booklet 8, she brings up two tracks: "Power Plant" and "Refrigerator." Crash Power Plant [arrangement] and Frozen Mist [new composition] are therefore hers.
-The last time Watanabe [01] talks on Booklet 9, he brings up "ジャンル." Although it is missing the グ character, I think he means "Jungle." Therefore, he composed Green Shower.

Here we go! Unofficial breakdown [Bold=Confirmed ; Italics = Implied]

Shinji Hosoe: Select, Flash Train, Three Tree, Fake World, Pearl in the Sky, Before Moon, More Stronger, Continue
Ayako Saso: White Field, Lost Sea, Phantom Bomb, Crowded Town, Crash Power Plant, Frozen Mist, Pasage of Lotus, The Battle of the Flame (both variations), Regenerate
Takayuki Aihara: Attract, Mahatma Temple with Hymn, Digital Ignition, The Infinite Earth, Irene, Amusementive Crime 2, Staff Roll, Bonus Stage, Stage Clear, Challenger, Game Over
Yasuhisa Watanabe: Green Shower [At least one of them is his; specifically one of the 8 new ones]

...

Now for Street Fighter EX plus alpha...
Shinji Hosoe: Sakura Mankai, Stronger, Future Objects, Under Tube, Continue
Ayako Saso: Spinning Bird, Heat Wind, Garnet Sky, Character Select, Light Guardian, Strange Sunset, Cold Pipe, New Challenger, Ending, Staff Roll, Results
Takayuki Aihara: Street Fighter EX, Precious Heart, Arabesque, God Hands, Rising Dragoon, Amusementive Crime, Irreconcilably, Stage Clear, Game Over

Street Fighter EX plus alpha is just the same tunes as Street Fighter EX but with a sound upgrade as you know, plus a few new tunes. most likely they handled arrangement of their own songs. so, many of those go without saying (even some that you bolded), and don't need discussion IMO.

in the rip I have, the only songs that I didn't already have credited to a specific person are:

PRECIOUS HEART (Sakura)
HEAT WIND (Dhalsim)
FUTURE OBJECTS (Cycloid)
Result
Ending

you've confirmed the main three there already (thanks!) though that only leaves Results and Ending. Both sound to me like Saso's work. Some of the chords in the latter part of Result are more alike Aihara, though the presets are a lot like Character Select. I'm pretty sure neither are Hosoe anyway.

haven't investigated EX2 Plus yet, though I'm certain yack's songs would stick out immediately.

I guess I should really say this when I do these sorts of things, but bold = "confirmed," and [recently added] Italics = "implied" For this and EX2 Plus, the only thing keeping me from bolding all the others is the fact that Spinning Bird is not originally Saso's (I mean, I certainly assume they're the same in my own personal record, but still - policy is policy.)

First off, thanks goes to CHz for the info, not me; I just feed off what's already here.

I associated Saso to Ending because it appears to have been made to link with Staff Roll. This was definitely the easier of the two.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tneLgg9RWdE - Ending
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_8lv_wEpIE - Staff Roll (0:34 to 0:50)

For Results, I just found something that now convinced me that it's Saso's
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g0xwNXcy5sI - Results (0:07; 0:15; 0:22)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8wj3ErjuQ4 - Ending (0:04; 0:12)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IT7ZieWGsHs - Staff Roll (0:00-0:03)
[It also helps to know that the type of sound heard in Results returns in Megaman Network Transmission, where Takayuki Aihara is absent.]

Speaking of Transmission, here's something from that game's third composer, Yousuke Yasui, that's particularly interesting: He handled "Vs. Zero"
http://www.myspace.com/yousukeyasui
NOTE: Yasui is credited as both "Compose & Arrange" and "Arrange or Remix" for that game, so I guess "Vs. Zero" is the remix and NeedleMan and/or SwordMan's stages were the compose & arrange?

...

BTW, who is this "pool" I see in the arranger field for this album?

listening to these now. I'm not familiar with the original EX2 songs yet so I'm going into this a bit more blind than I should be. I've added your credits; the songs that I don't have credits for are the following, which I've also posted guesses for based on my gut instinct:

PHANTOM BOMB - Aihara
BEFORE MOON - Saso
THE BATTLE OF THE FLAME - Hosoe
BONUS STAGE - Saso
EXTRA TRACK - Saso or Aihara

GREEN SHOWER also sounds more like Saso's work than Yack, knowing her penchant for latin rhythms. Is it really confirmed as his? It doesn't seem idiosyncratic enough somehow. could be though, amazingly i don't recognise any of the songs as being Yack's.

also, interestingly, someone on last.fm said this

These are the only tracks that I haven't been able to find information on. Thanks in advance.
so that means he knows the composers for phantom bomb, before moon and extra track? hm. figure that one out, if you will. i don't understand!

finally i must say, this music is very awesome :] supersweep guys never disappoint.

As the notes on the bottom of the album page will tell you, "Extra Track" is actually Game Over. Track 26 is simply Stage Clear; the rest of the track is silence.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=velqXvEWJSs - Track 26

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMogVXrMAIc - Track 27

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cyFslV1DPRw - Track 28 [A single loop of Continue is 16 seconds, as opposed to 10, so that alone invalidates the tracklist]

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AzS1DJNkGoU - Continue~Challenger
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9eLVrvNRHo4 - Stage Clear~Staff Roll~Game Over

Therefore, Challenger is Track 27, Continue is Track 28, and Game Over is Track 29.

Naturally, I'd assume "Extra Track" is Aihara's, for it is in fact Game Over.

And for the sake of convenience, here's the unreleased arcade versions of the 8 new tracks in EX2 Plus along with the OST versions.

Irene

Hello. I was invited here by Blitz Lunar for discussion on the composer credits for Street Fighter EX2 Plus. The music of the EX series is excellent, and both the music and the games themselves are criminally underrated. It was a bit confusing that such awesome tunes didn't have easily findable credits for the second entry of the series...

Anyway, I had a lot of the songs tagged based on a lot of research from sites such as this one, a few Japanese sites, and a small message board that I used to frequent some time ago that apparently is gone now (I don't even remember its name ).

These entries are exactly what I have tagged. I believe this list is completely accurate.

I must have accidentally left off "Phantom Bomb" and "Extra Track", because those two are songs that I was unable to find composer credits for as well. As for "Before Moon", I am certain that Shinji Hosoe was the composer for that one. I could be wrong, but it really sounds more like his work. Same goes for "The Battle of the Flame". I have no idea who could have done "Phantom Bomb" or the remaining, un-tagged tracks, though.

I'm glad I was directed to this topic; I appreciate the posts confirming the songs from EX2 Plus that I didn't have tagged. It got a little annoying not knowing who composed what.

The electric guitar (only live instrument performance and solo) was not credited in the booklet (unless I'm missing something in the texts) but is most certainly Katsumi Yoshihara, whose worked with the crew on Street Fighter EX3 and Tribute Album.

Guitar performances on
FAKE WORLD ~ Museum Stage (solo)
PHANTOM BOMB ~ Airport Stage (rhythm & solos)
CRASH POWER PLANT ~ Power Plant (rhythm)
THE INFINITE EARTH ~ Kono Ki Nanno Ki Stage (solo)
DIGITAL IGNITION ~ Space Shuttle Stage (rhythm)
MORE STRONGER ~ Garuda Stage (rhythm & solos)
REGENERATE ~ Ending (rhythm)
BONUS STAGE ~ Bonus Stage (riffs)
STAGE CLEAR & CHALLENGER ~ Victory & Intrusion (riffs)
CONTINUE ~ Continue (riffs)
Extra Track

Is there any way to translate the name of that tree?

They really need to do a box for this series, because there are all sorts of things missing (most of EXPa, some from EX2P(PSX), etc); I'm not sure what is actually on the EX3 game disc anymore.

Seems that I'm quite late to this party, so I won't belabor about how kyubi's problematic approach of picking words out of a highly context-sensitive language does not in fact confirm a single thing.

There is one specific thing I feel like correcting, though, as I feel it will be illustrative:

ジャンル is the word "genre."

Wow, I've never read this thread before (and I did skip much of his posts) but it's just stunning. CHz's quote is already impressive, but...

He talks about a menu of foods Yasuhisa Watanabe ('Yakusama' here) eats.

Bit of a bump, but as far as I can tell, there definitely was an arcade SFEX2P and those tracks are in it.

Currently tagging this album and decided to leave all composer/arranger fields empty. I'm incredibly late to this one, but this thread makes me wonder how reliable other album pages are with respect to composer/arranger breakdowns.

It seems like Yack was brought in as an arranger only on this game. He is only credited in the PSX version, not the arcade version.

A while ago, I reverse engineered the sound driver for the arcade version. This game (along with EX2 and the original TGM) used a sound driver designed by Arika themselves. Since Arika's sound team originally came from Namco, they designed this sound driver to be pretty similar to what Namco had.

Anyway, in the sound data, envelope data (volume envelopes, LFO, panning slides etc) and songs are stored separately. It seems like each composer had allocated a "range" of envelope slots, and songs composed by one developer would never or very rarely use an envelope made by someone else. Thanks to this, it is possible to guess who composed each songs based on in what "range" the envelope index is and if this range is found in other songs.

Based on this, I have made the following guesses: (I put the range of the volume envelope numbers in parenthesis to give some "proof" to my theory)
  • Attract - Shinji Hosoe (02x, 05x)
  • Green Shower - Ayako Saso (01x, 06x)
  • Before Moon - Shinji Hosoe (02x, 05x, 009 used once though)
  • Frozen Mist - Ayako Saso (04x, 06x)
  • Regenerate (Ending) - Ayako Saso (06x)
  • Irene - Takayuki Aihara (00x, 03x, 07x)
  • Phantom Bomb - Shinji Hosoe (02x, 05x, 08x)
  • Digital Ignition - Takayuki Aihara (00x, 03x, 07x)
  • Bonus Game - Takayuki Aihara (002)
  • The Battle of the Flame - Ayako Saso (04x, 06x)
  • The Battle of the Flame 2 - Ayako Saso (04x, 06x)
  • Speaker Check - Ayako Saso (046) - arcade exclusive track
  • QSound Logo - Ayako Saso (046) - arcade exclusive track

Notice that this is for the ARCADE version only, I can't say much about who arranged the music for the PSX version.
