- Added Japanese tracklist from http://homepage1.nifty.com/c-akimo/m...ag_l/mag11.htm
- Removed parenthetical game name from track titles (we haven't had it on any of the previous ones - I think 田辺裕己彦 is Yukihiko Tanabe but I'll leave it as is unless someone wants to dig further - Fixed M2 based on JP M2 - Fixed album title (was missing 特別付録 part of the title, split the secondary title out to the Other line like the earlier albums have setup, changed the name to the earlier 4 volumes "... %month%% News Volume ..." format.) - Changed subtitle for M5 to "America" from "United States" to match the katakana. - Changed "Four Devas" to "Grand Masters" which is what they're called in the US version (Balrog, Vega, Sagat, M. Bison) I won't be touching the artists, mostly because I don't feel like researching them (don't know why CHz hasn't done this one yet!) but here are some artist notes: - M4 ~ M6 just credit Alph Lyra, like earlier albums - M9 ~ M11 just credit Kukeiha Club - M12 ~ M15 just credit Shinsekai Gakkyoku Zatsugidan - M25 ~ M25 only credits EIKO, I don't know where the Kiyoshida credit comes from - M32 ~ M34 only credits Kinuyo Yamashita, I don't know where the Hiroyuki Iwatsuki credit comes from Last edited by dancey; Dec 17, 2015 at 05:22 PM. |

In the game Iwatsuki is credited for sound effects, Yamashita for music. Whether sound effects is just that or also sound design and arrangement is anyone's guess.

Every couple of months I tell myself that I'm finally going to start working on these again, and then I just go play some After Burner or something. ETA is Maybe Some Time Before I Die
About the inconsistent artists: our notes for these tend to be a mix of the magazine credits and the game credits. Sometimes that means taking something unspecific like Alph Lyra and replacing it with the people who are actually listed in the game... but sometimes that means taking something specific like a named composer and adding everyone else listed in the game for no reason. It's not great. |

Uh oh. The front of the insert lists track 3 as "some shall hope" while the back lists the same track as "some small hope."
I'll post scans soon. Edit: All done! Last edited by Jedi QuestMaster; Jul 15, 2019 at 08:36 PM. |

Oh lord is it time for this again, don't get your hopes up that I stick with it for very long
See this thread for general notes about what I'm trying to do with these albums: https://vgmdb.net/forums/showthread.php?t=6420. 01~03: Ryuuko no Ken Listed composers: YAMAPY, Seisuke Ito SNES: "Music Compose: S.Itoh" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rCH1hjn0_gM&t=23m19s Track 1 is an arrangement of the song of the same name from the Neo Geo version, confirmed to be YAMAPY's original composition by the OST: https://vgmdb.net/album/894. Tracks 2 & 3 are original compositions (replacing "Blue Moon Factory" and "Could That Person Be Our Child?"), and so are Ito's. 04~06: Street Fighter II Turbo Listed composer: Alfh Lyra "Music Design: Isao 'Oyaji' Abe, Yuki '3D' Satomura" - https://www35.atwiki.jp/sfcall/pages/615.html Tracks 4 & 5 were originally composed by Shimomura for the original Street Fighter II: http://gamemusic.pl/en/my-japonczycy...obalny-zasieg/. The versions here in SNES SFIIT were reused from the original SNES SFII, so see past threads for information about the arrangement there. Track 6 was originally composed by Shimomura by this album: https://vgmdb.net/album/733. Since Yuki Iwai (Satomura) is the new sound staff for this version of the game, she may have done this, but there are more changes in the soundtrack besides this (at the very least, the "Here Comes a New Challenge" jingle is different) so this isn't the only thing she could've done. 07~08: Battle Master: Kyuukyoku no Senshitachi Listed composer: J.S.P! "Sound: J.S.P." - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9LEiut1rxuM&t=8m01s No idea who/what J.S.P. is 09~11: T.M.N.T. Mutant Warriors Listed composer: Kukeiha Club "Sound Producer: Kazuhiko Uehara; Sound Editor: Hideto Inoue, Harumi Ueko" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TRhL7QJcieY&t=28m17s I believe the soundtracks for all three versions of this game (NES, GEN, SNES) are distinct? They all came out around the same time so it probably doesn't make sense to say one is the canonical soundtrack from which the others are arranged. 12~15: Garou Densetsu 2 Listed composer: Shinsekai Gakkyoku Zatsugidan The arcade OST has some sound team commentary, but is unfortunately not super helpful in figuring out who did what: https://vgmdb.net/album/1139 SNES: "Sound: Shrimp H., Kennosuke Suemura" - https://www35.atwiki.jp/sfcall/pages/272.html "Shrimp H." here is Hiroshi Ebihara, based on other works with Kennosuke Suemura and his name: https://vgmdb.net/forums/showthread.php?t=6515 16~17: Masters: Harukanaru Augusta 2 Listed composer: CHAKA-POCO "Sound: Yumi Kinoshita, Shunsuke Minomiya" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DK1FQhHHx00&t=1m08s "CHAKA-POCO" here seems to be either a collective name for T&E Soft's sound team or just an alias for one of its members, because it's also credited on TIM-SFC09 for another T&E game. 18~20: Super Kyousouba: Kaze no Sylphid Listed composer: Toshiyuki Takine "Sound: Takipon" - http://www35.atwiki.jp/sfcall/pages/1130.html This game was also in Takine's old works list: https://web.archive.org/web/20010501...~takipony/JOB/ 21~22: Soukou Kihei VOTOMS: The Battling Road Listed composer: Kenji Yoshida "Music Composer: Yoshida Kenji" - https://www35.atwiki.jp/sfcall/pages/1028.html The kanji here is different than the Nichibutsu Kenji Yoshida, and the game credits indicate he was part of Genki Co.,Ltd. The kanji matches this trumpet player, but I'm not sure it's the same person. 23~24: Arcus Spirits Listed composer: Motoi Sakuraba SNES: "Music: M.Sakuraba" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qjg13ZdIXmY&t=50m49s Both of these songs were ported from the original Arcus Odyssey for the X68K, also by Sakuraba: https://vgmdb.net/album/8619 25~26: Miracle Girls Listed composer: EIKO "Music by EIKO" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqLxjGklREY&t=8m39s Based on credits from other Now Production games, this should be Eiko Kaneda 27~29: Higashio Osamu Kanshuu: Super Pro Yakyuu Stadium Listed composer: Kazuo Sawa Couldn't find a staff roll for this 30~31: Darius Force Listed composer: Yukihiko Tanabe "Sound: Kiyoshi Kusatsu, Yoshio Watanabe, Yukihiko Tanabe" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GD0Vgm6Vq0&t=38m35s Yukihiko Tanabe is also the only person mentioned for music on DARIUS 30th ANNIVERSARY EDITION, but I'm not 100% certain he actually did the entire soundtrack. In any case, I don't have any reason to believe that he didn't compose the two songs here at least. 32~34: GS Mikami: Joreishi wa Nice Body Listed composer: Kinuyo Yamashita "Music Composer: Kinuyo Yamashita; Sound Effect: Hiroyuki Iwatsuki" - http://www35.atwiki.jp/sfcall/pages/416.html It's possibly significant that, on her works list, Kinuyo Yamashita doesn't say she did "all composition" for this like she does on other games. She's the only one listed for music in the game though, and certainly on this album for these songs. 35~37: Choujikuu Yousai Macross: Scrambled Valkyrie Listed composer: Noboru Yamane "Music Compose: 'Nobo' Yamane" - https://www35.atwiki.jp/sfcall/pages/812.html |
