If someone could complete the Arranger credits
(and translate the tracks ?) About Ys II Special, in 1994, the Korean company Mantra brought Ys II to DOS, renaming it Ys II Special in the process. But it was more than just a mere port, as Mantra drastically redesigned and expanded the game into something completely new and unique. In fact, it's far more fleshed out than even Falcom's own remake Ys II Eternal. Last edited by Myrkul; Mar 19, 2011 at 05:52 AM. |

More infos on this release.
It seems like all the other GameWorld entries, this CD came with a Korean game Magazine (named Game World). This particular magazine mention the "4th Anniversary Album" in its table of contents Also, i added better scans to the entry, and completed a bit the credits. Here are some more photos of the booklet: |

I added the staff credits. Even though it was hard to make out some of the characters due to the low res scan, I think it should be correct. There might be some inconsistent romanization though as I'm not too knowledgeable in that area. I'll try to fix the tracklist later.
By the way, why is TeMP credited for composition? Was there some new compositions for 'Ys II Special'? |

I never played or heard the "Ys II Special" game.
Like i said on the first post, the game was severely changed by Mantra. So maybe TeMP re-arranged the music from falcom JDK and made some new music for the port. |

Yeah, there is a whole bunch of new music in Ys II Special (mainly to go with the new overworld/dungeon areas), some of it very good. The new tracks are actually the attraction, as the Falcom originals are pretty conservative versions of the songs (although some, like Termination, work really well). A few of the choicer tracks:
http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/9/...01/d-nsalm.mp3 http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/9/...01/d-wings.mp3 http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/9/...01/g-messa.mp3 http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/9/...01/ysdangn.mp3 http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/9/...201/98dont.mp3 That last one still blows me away. I had no idea you could wring that kind of sound out of any Adlib card. Unfortunately, Ys II Special was Mantra's only (?) game as a developer, with all their other releases being Korean localizations of Japanese PC games with minimal frills (there are a few arranged tracks unique to their release of Brandish 2, but they really aren't anything to write home about, and every other track is taken directly from the OST). They closed down in the mid-90s, at least in part due to how buggy/unstable their releases tended to be. I need to get my hands on this album somehow... |

Anyone know where might be a good place to look for a physical copy of this? e.g. Korean auction sites?
