Notes

"Rockmama is Fujita's first solo album, containing 14 tracks that are homages to many of her favorite video games. Each track originated as a short melody Fujita composed as "OkanP." Rockmama, an homage to her roots as a Rockman/Mega Man composer, fully fleshes out each track into full blown compositions that stand on their own.

About Harumi Fujita
Harumi Fujita began her career as a game composer at SNK before moving to CAPCOM in 1983. In 1990, she became a freelance composer. She has composed for many games, including Mega Man 3, Final Fight, PULSTAR, Tomba!, and more. After becoming a freelancer, Fujita branched out from game music to musicals and TV dramas, working on a wide variety of music, from instrumental to voiced tracks across her over 42 years of experience, making her into one of gaming’s most legendary composers.

In June 2024, Fujita began her “OkanP” TikTok account, where she would compose original music inspired by an existing game, and soon after, her videos went viral! For Fujita, creating music is like making food–it comes naturally. She takes no shortcuts on quality, maintainng a high standard. Her first video, “Can you create a Mega Man-like song?” has amassed over 2.8 million views.

About OkanP
In each OkanP video, Harumi Fujita’s son visits his mother’s music studio and calls out to her by saying, “okan,” which is regional (Kansai) Japanese slang that can be translated into English as “Mama” or “Ma” (a more casual and personal version of “mother”). The “P” is shorthand for “Producer,” a reference to Fujita’s role as a music producer. “OkanP” can be translated into English as “Producer-Mama.”"
