So the book credits Namco Tales Studio ltd for some composition and arrangement. Has it been determined that this was Motoi Sakuraba and Hibiki Aoyama exclusively?

The staff roll only credits Sakuraba and Aoyama for the music, plus only they are listed as "music composer" in the liner notes, and they arrangements are by Sakuraba I think, so it's almost 99% sure. No idea why they insist on crediting Namco Tales Studio in recent albums though.

Does anyone have the breakdown of songs written by Sakuraba and Aoyama?

There are no official breakdowns in Tales soundtracks, but I could post my guesses if you want.

I usually do those right when the games are out and revise them sporadically, so it's no trouble at all.

Wow that is great! Thanks! It is a huge pet peeve of mine when I can't find who wrote individual songs.

Just keep in mind that those are still only guesses. And feel free to discuss if you think differently about some tracks.

Also, 'Halure Revisited' seems like an arrange of 1-26, so I wonder if isn't by Tamura/Aoyama too. --- I was really unsatisfied with the translations for this OST, here and elsewhere. Too many glaring errors and general weirdness going on. So now that I've finally beaten the game (goddamn are them Tales games long), armed with context and the US sound test, I revised it (album page). First the US sound test for reference, also reordered (should anybody want to use it for tagging). Sound test, game style:

The PS3 version has new songs not included in the OST, which western sites call by made up names. For reference, the actual JP names from the PS3 sound test, my rough translations, and their "fake" names are: PS3 new tracks:

Did not know there's a sound test. Really nice job! I've seen some sound test names added as full tracklists... don't know if you want to do that.
I actually just started playing this game a couple weeks ago. It's comforting to see that they've taken something that worked so well (Symphonia) and have basically kept it in its form, changing and adding a few things here or there. It's a fun game so far... congrats on your victory! And thanks for the sound test names |

Those shortish, repetitive, low detail tracks are the most annoying pieces to guess. Like this one I have dozens of Tales tracks (mostly event and "surprise" themes) marked with a question mark as their bareness makes them more comparable with Tamura's dungeon themes but instrumentation could also be Sakuraba's. |

But, at least it's now documented in the thread, good for reference. The game steadily rose from "pretty bland" to "completely awesome" for me. By the end I had a crazy amount of hours logged in, and told myself I had to stop and move on |

Oh, I didn't realize it wasn't a complete sound test. You're right about that. And... I still play Symphonia to this day. I have hundreds of hours logged... and hundreds more not logged. Maybe I should move on as well ;__; Guess I should really get to playing Vesperia and see how much I like it.

Hey, so, uh, Bamco digitally released this soundtrack in two volumes last year, and it has individual song credits??? [1] [2]

Bamco US has used guessed credits in the past so I wouldn't touch those with a ten foot pole.
They are good guesses though, but I find physically impossible for Aoyama to have composed 2.05 and 3.11, those sound sources are completely 100% Sakuraba (1.28 is also questionable). |

Especially as Sakuraba's sound libraries got more varied and better during the years, compared to the early years during the PS1 era for example. I totally agree with Dag here. 2-05 is definitely Sakuraba, no mistake there and 3-11 with the robust brass section as well. It sounds less extravagant and developed than most of Sakuraba's orchestral pieces tho. On the other side, 1-26 sounds like a Tales of Symphonia composition to me but it is credited to Sakuraba.... Maybe they exchanged equipment for a couple of tracks? Tales of the Abyss uses similar structure of some tracks, where Tamura uses orchestral libraries of Sakuraba to compose a track ("The Distribution Base"), but these are no official credits. |

I'm with Dag, there's no way 2.05 and 3.11 aren't Sakuraba. These are the same people who said Fighting of the Spirit was Sakuraba, which is one of the few tracks we know was Tamura. The shitty thing is that those credits are probably gonna start popping up elsewhere as if they're legit.

Better late than never...
3.33 is a de-arrangement of 3.03, so it's something Hiroshi Tamura could have done indeed. The arrangement, not the composition of course, which throws the iTunes credits out of whack since following that rule 3.29-31 should credit the arrangers not the old composers. There is a possibility that Shinji Tamura did get help from Sakuraba regarding the instrumentation since he's known to have asked him regarding his synth setup during that time. But 2.05 is too far outside Shinji Tamura would do, while featuring instrumentation and composition Sakuraba liked using in Konchuu Wars, Abyss as well as Baten Kaitos 2. While it mostly seems close, I won't consider those iTunes credits as official. |

Bandai Namco Game Music released this on 2022-12-22, credits seem similar or identical to https://vgmdb.net/forums/showpost.ph...8&postcount=15
