Originally formed in 1996 as a duo of brothers Takaki and Yasuyuki Horigome with the Japanese name キリンジ, written in English as KIRINJI. After the KIRINJI TOUR2013 ended on April 12, 2013, Yasuyuki left the group, leaving the band name with Takaki. Takaki restarted the group in the summer of 2013 with five new members, now using the name "KIRINJI" in all languages. In 2021, KIRINJI became a solo project of Takaki Horigome.
