Wonderful news to wake up to. Just preordered. Also, OMG, 9 discs! I had a feeling this was going to be a big one.

Looks like the tracklist might take time to translate. There's quite a lot of tracks.

I have started translating it on a spreadsheet. I will share it when I am done, which will probably be later today or tomorrow. (Incidentally I also re-did the BotW soundtrack's translations a while ago as there were some oversights/inconsistencies, which is on the same document.)

Well, with translations it's not a bad thing to get multiple takes. We can compare any differences and choose the best ones.

So here's my submission (behind spoiler tags so as not to clutter the thread).
I confess I don't know Japanese. However, I used the text dump located at the link below, cross referencing the Japanese word/phrase with the localized English variant used: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...RilrA_hek/edit Not all track titles have verbatim in-game phrases of course, so for some I had to use a combination of translation sites and context clues. The ones I was unsure about I've marked with an asterisk. Spoiler:

I wonder which tracks are recycled from Breath of the Wild? It would be kinda redundant to have those tracks in the album too.

Spoiler:
Seems like a lot of them are in the TotK list. Town themes are separated into Day/Night for the TotK soundtrack, unlike the BotW soundtrack that had them mixed with transitions. A few are renamed to fit the TotK context, like the sheikah slate jingles to the arm jingles. Also, it seems the horned statue theme is so cursed they didn't include it on either soundtrack even though it's in both games. Last edited by KobobKC; May 11, 2024 at 01:49 PM. |

Would be nice to omit those redundant tracks from the ToTK soundtrack so as to avoid padding. Then again.... Hmm....

I don't think they should be omitted, because some were split or changed. The Molduga Battle theme was also missing a section which I hope they fix. But, it would probably be useful to list which were in BotW, and if any tracks were modified.
Anyways, here is a link to my translations. I also consulted with a native speaker who looked over it and made corrections. Some of them are based on my review of BotW's OST, which I'll bring up on that discussion page probably after this. That is to say, my track titles here are consistent with those I did for BotW, but they could potentially differ from this website's current titles. I think they are more accurate. However, some also differ from Rew's list in that they are consistent with both. Regarding Rew's translation: Most of our translations are pretty similar, and some are just different where I tried to stay more accurate to the formatting of the Japanese in both style and tense. I also noticed several tracks were directly lifted from dialogue, so I found the same lines in the English version of the game. I changed a few of mine where I thought your wording was better, but some still differ. I can explain why I prefer my interpretation if you like- some I think are mistaken, while some I just think could be worded better. (I mean you no offense by this— we're in basically the same boat.) The one I'm still left entirely confused on is 7.31, and I have a hunch they put the wrong kanji read as こうしん- it says 後進 ("telecommunications, conference") when I think it probably should be 更新 ("renewal, upgrade, improvement"). |

Here's my contribution via this spreadsheet. Tried to stay as accurate to the source material as possible, both the track names and their respective titles from the game if given, while also keeping some consistency between BotW's track names. Also reviewed Chubby Bub's spreadsheet and adjusted wherever I saw fit.
Only tracks I'm not 100% on are 2-27 and 2-28 as they're not direct translations of the track names, but they are close to the direct quote the title comes from (which is the intention of the Japanese track name). Please adjust wherever y'all see fit. |

If there aren’t any objections to the tracklist via the spreadsheet above, I’ll go ahead and implement it sometime tomorrow.

Thank you for your feedback! Glad we're working with each other to put this together.
I'll admit my translations are kinda rough, as I mostly used a rough translator (aka Google Translate lol), though for these translations I try to stay true to both their terms directly from the game, as well as any necessary parallels between BotW's english-translated track list. With that being said, I've also looked at the corrections made above and many of them are very helpful. (Ironically many of those tracks were the ones I struggled with the most XD) So with those corrections in mind, plus the use of a better translator, I've updated most of them to match better with both those corrections and the in-game terms (such as the Phenomenons and Depths Labyrinth). Only things I'll mention in this post are the names I probably won't change and reasons why. Quote:

Otherwise, everything else is looking great! Again huge shoutout to Chubby Bub for providing their translations, helping me adjust mine wherever necessary. I'll go ahead and put the track list together very soon.

First Location should definitely be changed to First Time at a Location, on the BotW list as well.

If the majority prefers that translation instead (since it is more accurate), I'll go ahead and make that change, probably in BotW's soundtrack as well. Been thinking it may need an update, since some translations aren't entirely accurate either.

Also, last piece of feedback- the reason I suggest "The Cece Hat" is while "Cece Hat" is the name of the item, I think including "The" makes more sense for the track title, which plays when Cece shows it off and proclaims how special it is. |

Beyond that, speaking of BotW's OST, I've also posted a proposal of some track changes via the Limited Edition. Changed a couple other track names here based on those changes, but if those changes aren't accepted I'll revert those tracks. |

Turns out Usui did all of my favorites. I remember he had a few orchestral pieces online that seem to be lost media now, unfortunately. I'm excited to see what else he does at Nintendo.

I also think Maasa Miyoshi and Tsukasa Usui did some great work. I really like "Gloom Spawn Battle", "Queen Gibdo Battle", "Hyrule Castle (Sky)" and "Demon Dragon Battle" (even if I find "Dark Beast Ganon" from BotW to be way better in the same "epic main theme arrangement for the final boss" genre, it's still a really good theme) and I love "Lightning Temple" and Construct Factory" from Miyoshi. And Usui also did some really great themes such as "Phantom Ganon Battle", Seized Construct Battle", "Oh Link... I'm Home !" or the wonderful "Tarrey Town (Night)" arrangement. And I'm sure listening to the official soundtrack will add other themes to these lists of favorites. But I'm really surprised and a little bit disappointed by Manaka Kataoka's significantly smaller amount of compositions in TotK than in BotW, and a bit disappointed but not really suprised by Wakai's lesser role in music composition (he got an even bigger sound team to manage so it seemed logical). I guess Kataoka helped Wakai supervising other composers who were both new to the franchise, new to this specific depiction of Hyrule and were quite new employees. And it really payed off, I genuinely thought Lookout Landing and Skyview Tower for example were Kataoka songs, and also thought Gleeok Battle was a Wakai song. |

Incredible soundtrack, just wish it was already in the Picard database... info has been out for months... I have a heap of files just named "track x".
Is there software like Musicbrainz picard that uses the database here? If not, it's not all terrible, the USB has some of the best this soundtrack has to offer, even if it is needlessly hi-res. |

Hmm... I wonder if Masato Ohashi is still at Nintendo. On his Facebook, I noticed he updated his employment status recently.
Currently it says "Workplace: Composer (March 28, 2024 to present)". Employees at Japanese companies often leave at the end of the fiscal year, which is March 31st. This is just speculation though - it could mean nothing. |

I actually added it to MB late yesterday so you may have just searched before it was there. Usually I wait until track credits are out before adding them there because otherwise the wrong artist is input there and it's a lot harder editing an incorrect entry than adding a new correct one, and a track breakdown for this soundtrack wasn't available until this week.
