Default Message for Collectors of Japanese Film and TV Music

Over the course of 2024, we have attracted a number of Japanese film and television music enthusiasts to our site, and while we appreciate the enthusiasm that they bring, the extra load of reviewing, mentoring and approving all of the new albums submitted in this category is becoming detrimental to other aspects of our site operation. I want to firmly emphasize that Japanese live action is not an area of our coverage. Albums in this category are only permitted to fill discographies for our covered artists, and given how many composers dabble in anime and game, it is still broadly unrestrictive, but it is important to keep this perspective in mind.

To make things go more smoothly from here, I need all of the frequent submitters to take on more responsibility.

From now, the following are required for all submitters of albums in the Live Action category. Technically, they are soft requirements for all albums on VGMdb, but they are often completed during moderation.
  1. The beginning of your submission comment should include the name of the artist whose discography this album will fill, and a name of (or link to) the in-scope work, which is BGM for game or anime.
  2. Please add the corroborating scans/photos directly to the album page. You can use "Credits" as the image name for any partial or piecemeal booklet page that contains artist credits.
  3. Please include an artist draft that at least contains the basic information, which would be the 音楽 credit, or possibly the 作詞, 作曲, 編曲, 歌 credits from the shop sites. You can include full detailed credits if you have provided the sources and uploaded any scans. Please use the exact role names that are written in the booklet, and request any missing ones in the Role Request thread. Note that you don't have to include the detailed credits if you are uncomfortable transcribing japanese, and the basic credits are fine.
  4. The detailed credits (beyond just the 音楽 credit) must be reproduced in the notes as they appear in the booklet if you use them in the draft.
  5. Please take the shop links that you find while gathering information and add them to the album page under the "Available at" section using Edit/Manage Links. (Adding @BithnessMan77 here: you should do this too.)

Note that these are all things that I have been fixing on these albums during moderation. Any submitter to this category will need to follow all of these guidelines to be accepted.

Please go back and update any albums that are pending or on hold.
