this release is music used only for psp or it's used elsewhere?

Other than XSEED's Ys I & II Chronicles+ (which combines Falcom's PC port of Chronicles with Complete), the answer is no.

...but that means the answer is yes
![]() Yes, it is used in the Steam versions on the PC, so PC should also be marked. I've played them and the same versions on this soundtrack are used in those games. |

If strictly speaking about the Steam 2013 release, then no, PC shouldn't be marked because the policy is no retroactive adding of platforms (relative to the specific album's release date). On the other hand, I've seen many colorful examples so I'm not really sure if users stick to that policy.

Well, the game was released on PC on December 24, 2009 originally, which was a port of the PSP version of Chronicles. So, can't remember what's the policy on ports like that, but PC imo should be added.

Nah, I was talking about ports with relatively larger timegap, for instance you have God of War 2 OST db entry that was released in 2007 (PS2 only), PS3 port was released in 2009 and PS Vita this year... So, according to the vgmdb policy, we shouldn't add PS3 & Vita as represented platforms for that specific OST release from 2007, no matter the music's the same, simply because PS3 & Vita versions didn't exist when that OST was released.
Although technically you could play PS2 disc if you had PS3 with backwards compatibility heh. In this YS case where the PC port was released so closely (Dec 2009, right?) and if it uses the same music then you can probably add PC. ...but someone may disagree after all because the PC port did come slightly after this album's release date. Our policies XD Last edited by Efendija; Aug 27, 2014 at 12:27 PM. |

Well....
Considering how long after the PSP release the OST came out, it's quite possible it was released anticipating the PC version. It's not uncommon for a soundtrack to be released a little before the product, maybe the PC released was delayed a month or something? Is there any mention of the PC port in the soundtrack book or whatever? |

actually, I'm gonna be more precise:
at the time of this release, only psp game was available, right? if I got it right, that means yes (I feel a bit confused) |

Wait that's really a policy?
![]() This album is literally the soundtrack to the PC version. The exact songs on this album are used in that version of the game. I don't know how this soundtrack doesn't represent that version. It wasn't released with the intention to represent something? It represents it regardless. Or maybe we could now say that the Ultra Street Fighter IV Soundtrack shouldn't have Xbox 360 and PC added to products represented because it was released with the PS3 version of the game and so it was only intended to cover that version. This policy just doesn't make a whole lot of sense guys. EDIT: I feel like we're trying to baby people into realizing that a certain version wasn't in existence at the time a soundtrack was released with a field called products represented. Maybe I'm hung up on a name. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. The Steam version is certainly represented by this soundtrack. If you played the Steam version, you wouldn't say to yourself "Man I love this game's soundtrack and want to buy it physically BUT DARN I CAN'T because the only released soundtrack doesn't represent this game." If anything, leaving out the Steam version is misleading to people who come to these pages wanting to know whether or not the music is the same between a port and a soundtrack. You see people ask all the time "Does this soundtrack contain blah blah console version too?" and if that information were there, people would know that. Nope, represented platforms - it's about the music and not the game version the CD is shipped with, you have the notes for that. The music is the same across all the versions for USFIV and all versions exist at the time of that CD release so all can be listed. Sure there are people who'll disagree with that too.
And about "no retroactive platform adding", yes, it is/was a policy along with no retroactive product adding but there are many examples where it isn't followed. |

if I ask that's because the psp game proposes 3 sound modes:
pc-88 original, complete and chronicles if wiki is right, there is an arranged version made for the psp, I suspect this album to have this arranged version (edit: pc version is a port of psp, not the opposite as raz said) Last edited by Phonograph; Aug 27, 2014 at 10:35 PM. |

one from 2001 (ys i&ii complete) and one in 2009 (ys i&ii complete too) my guess is that you mean 2001 version, because 2009 makes no sense (it's the last version released, you can't make a 5th before a 4th) |

Complete isn't same thing as Chronicles, Complete is the Eternal ports of original Ys games bundled together, and Chronicles is a port of Complete to PSP and then to PC, at least that's the way I've understood it. And then there's Chronicles+ which XSEED did bring in Steam last year.

So....I'm guessing there's no specific credit on who wrote the two songs?

Victory!! and In Adventure World are vocal versions of See You Again from Ys I and Stay With Me Forever from Ys II, respectively. The former was written by Yuzo Koshiro and the latter by Mieko Ishikawa.
