Epic25, please use the edit options and consider the following:
-adding tracklists (mandatory)
-classification (e.g. vocal if it's a vocal album, of course there can be multiple classifications, read the tooltips) [classification is selected at two places]
-choosing category (game/animation etc.)
-title of the represented product (game/animation title)
-platform (for games it's the systems: pc, playstation etc. for animation it's series/ova/movie)
-artist name format (romanized) is first name-last name (including the Japanese artists)
-track breakdown if possible e.g.

M-01
Composition:
Arrangement:
Lyrics:
Performed by:

and so on (especially useful for vocal tracks)

-composer, arranger, lyricist info to the appropriate fields, you can use this for example:
http://anison.info/data/programgroup/1269.html
(click on an album and you'll have from column 3 to 6 performers, lyricists, composers and arrangers listed if available; next you copy a name and paste it to vgmdb (upper left) search field to get a romanization if available (if not, leave the kanji).

Thanks.

edit - oh yeah, category/represented products is assuming there are game/animation tracks, if not, it's fine to leave it blank.

I filled out Vol.1 as an example for him to use: http://vgmdb.net/album/39696

Just follow what I did there and the albums will be all good. If you need to find the Barcode just use CDJapan and copy the JAN from "Edition Details" area. For example: http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=LACM-4375

there is way simpler
lantis JAN codes work as follows: (for examples)
LADA-1002 4540774100026
LACM-4375 4540774403752
LACA-5996 4540774509966
LACA-9303/4 4540774903030
LACM-14128 4540774141289
LACA-15315 4540774153152

* in green is the check digit, a digit you can calculate, for convenience some sites exist to calculate it

auto-promo: I have made a simple form for 13-digit code here
for example, you put first 12 digits 454077440375 (after clicking) -> 4540774403752 (check digit is calculated)

That's pretty interesting. Is there a way to do this with other stems too or is it just Lantis?

Every now and then I add an album that only has the catalog number at the time, so it would be useful to know how to get the JAN just from that.

a lot of publishers have that scheme (avex, cutting edge, marvelous, vap, toy's factory, etc.)
but also a lot of publishers don't follow that sheme (columbia, victor, king, pony, geneon, etc.)

edit: little precision about avex, only the digits of the catalogues match the jan codes, the stem AVCA/AVBA/AVDA/etc. can differ

AVJA-14005 4988064140053
AVDA-14006 4988064140060
AVCA-14007 4988064140077
