"Please check out my new CD "Alphabet Planet", which contains the soundtrack to an online game. The game concept was light and refreshing, so I tried to compose lighthearted music that could be listened to everyday." What? |

I guess the music of Alphabet Planet is suited to the fantasy MMORPG genre. =3 Confirmation plz? |

Well spotted! Probably Bukyo, but I imagined something very different stylistically. I think it would have served even better as the score for a new Seiken Densetsu.

Personally, I love a lot of the tracks at the beginning of disc 2. But there are winners throughout the album. I warmed up to this album after a few listens and it has grown on me.

Multiple times Kikuta has said it was a score for an canceled MMORPG. He is actually an employee of a game developer (according to what little I read on mixi), and I assume there could have been more games he was involved in.

Yeah, Bukyo could be the game in question. I've always wanted to hear the music to that cancelled game; who would have thought I'd have heard it all along in Alphabet Planet? =]
As for the album, I love it. At first I just liked the really bouncy, happy songs (like the still-mega-awesome "Vivid", "1 plus 1 equal 1" and the charming "Oval of Cassini") but I've grown to like just about every single track. A great album, for sure. |

Doesn't sound anything like Alphabet Planet. Anyway, does anybody know where I can find this track in MP3 format, or anything else from Bukyo?

Oh yeah I forgot about that youtube video. That sort of distinguishes Bukyo music from AP music, doesn't it?

In case anyone is still confused, Hiroki Kikuta composed the music of Alphabet Planet originally for an online game called Vivid Side, which was cancelled. I thought I saw him say this somewhere, but I can't find a primary source anymore.
The name "Vivid Side" (ヴィヴィッドサイド) was patented by a company called "SE Mobile And Online" (SEモバイル・アンド・オンライン株式会社) (source here), but on VGMO it says that the game was developed by Shoeisha. In the end, I'm not sure who developed the game. |

Should the category be changed to "Game", since this album contains music to an unreleased game?
Do we have any other examples of albums with music to an unreleased game? |
