Had to strip the emojis out of the notes, the submissions kept coming up blank.

We just did a database update that might allow the emojis to be stored (though I don't know if they are still "sanitized" out of the submitted text. Can you try submitting one of the emojis again?

This album submitted in 2016 has emoji in one of the tracklists: https://vgmdb.net/album/60117

Maybe it was just certain fields that weren't allowing things to be stored. In any case, I just tested emoji in the notes field and there's no issues now.

The issues isn't with emojis vs not emojis but rather whether a Unicode character takes 3 or 4 bytes to store. ⚡ is a 3-byte character so it has never presented any problems. But any 4-byte Unicode character (which includes many emojis, but also some kanji like ?) were unsupported until the recent update.
