3 Years ago it was the ARCADE SHOOTING BOX and now Konami launches the NES/FAMICOM BOX to join it.

There were also the two Castlevania ones in between.

I went and compared the game list to the 3 EGG volumes (which I assume a lot of these recordings are sourced from since most of the digital ones Konami themselves had on Amazon until recently were originally on EGG) and while this set has many games that weren't on those albums, two are missing: Double Dribble (NES and FDS versions) and Blades of Steel. Wondering if there's some copyright/royalty issue with the NBA or NHL or if they were just cut for space.

Also of note, Lagrange Point is complete including the fan-submitted tracks that were cut from EMCA-0021.

Looking at the tracklist, I can safely say almost all of these have been released on disc before (whether by Konami themselves, Scitron or via EGG MUSIC's own Famicom Chronicle series), but the following are new to CD (ignoring Konami Ending Collection):
  • Majou Densetsu II: Daimashikyou Galious (a.k.a. Knightmare II FC)
  • Cosmic Wars
  • Quarth
  • Parodius Da!
  • Yume Penguin Monogatari
  • Parodius Da! (GB)
Cosmic Wars and Quarth actually got digital releases from EGG Music and then rereleases by Konami (which are still up on Amazon and Apple Music as of this writing); but Knightmare, Parodius and Yume Penguin are brand new! Good to see Konami acknowledging Knightmare (well, Majou Densetsu technically), wasn't expecting that. Parodius Da! GB thrown in as a bonus is interesting, since the full OST was never released on CD before. Maybe a hint at an upcoming Game Boy Antiques OST box?

Some more notes:
  • Green Beret - The Underground BGM has been restored! This FDS-exclusive track was absent from the EGG MUSIC CD (and all subsequent digital releases) for some reason.
  • It probably won't happen, but I hope they redo the OSTs for the 3 Contra games. The EGG MUSIC release somehow completely messed up the DPCM levels, making the drums and orchestra hits sound extremely quiet compared to actual hardware (seriously, compare Super C's Stage 1 - this vs. THIS!).
  • Parodius da! - Looks like this just has the original Japanese release, so the different ending theme from the European PAL release is sadly omitted: https://tcrf.net/Parodius_(NES)#Ending_BGM
  • Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa - Seems they're just doing the original FDS OST, so no revised OST for the Famicom cart port here unfortunately.

I also noticed Gyruss is missing for some reason? Weird. But at least both the FDS and NES OSTs can be found on the Konami Shooting Collection box (though it's OOP and super expensive now...). Good to hear Lagrange Point is getting its full OST restored however!

Gyruss is also on SCDC-00319, which while OOP isn't particularly expensive or difficult to find.

in this release, the 14th disc is a konamistyle exclusive and does not fit inside the box, according to the stock photo (i see 13 cases in there). just like the akumajo dracula red/black box, when both were ordered on konamistyle.

the bonus disc art is also very similar to the akumajo dracula bonus disc

gotta order a copy then...

I realise it was never released in Japan, but it's a bit disappointing to me that the Monsters in my Pocket ost isn't on here.

Damnit, mudkip! You and VGMFan20XX keep ruining these for me.

(Although I've had that album for over two years, I've been adding each game to my phone's playlist one by one so I can appreciate each game individually. Not long ago I added Super Contra (Arcade) and next on the list is Super C.)

The current USD/yen exchange rate is telling me to buy this.

I entered track times from what is present on the discs and printed booklets.

Our existing tracklist seems to have errors, (possibly copy/paste errors on Discs 3 and 4). Not sure where that listing is from, and Konamistyle's website now blocks all traffic coming from outside Japan.

Disc 3 does have 67 tracks (not 73)
Disc 4 does have 64 tracks (not 73)

Disc 13 does have 50 tracks (not 51, as #38 simply said "Bonus Tracks" which is obviously just a copy/paste error, not an additional track)
