This is a bit weird, but I'v been looking into the various fanmade Metroid releases and have been finding some good stuff.

I won't go into these in-depth (heh heh) because I've had them or talked about them, but I like Luminist's touch on the material. It's a light touch but it remains tasteful.

This album (SAMUS & CHILL)

I can't help but be a little disappointed with this release. I dug the first two tracks but then things kind of soured when I realized all the tracks that were going to follow in the same pattern. I'm sure that was actually part of the point/idea, but it hurts it a little IMO>

Video Game LoFi: Metroid

I think this is a different genre than the album above, but I think it's going for roughly the same idea. The ideas for the songs are a little more varied, so it ekes out much more of a win for me. I do love the remix of Kraid's Lair on here - very, very interesting with the weary sound it goes for. (Look, I absolutely LOVE the NES music for Kraid's Lair, so if you remix in the right way you will melt my heart.)

Super Metroid OST Recreated

Why did I wait so long to check this out? Probably because I wasn't a huge fan of the DKC projects that were similar, but I love this one as well.

So, I wanted to look into the various Metroid remix projects some more, but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. Oh, and I have checked out the various Metroid Metal releases and oddly they didn't jell with me despite the fact I love heavy metal.
