I removed the arranger credits mostly because all of the artists were listed as composers on the booklet, but it also didn't help that how much Uematsu, Ohkoshi and Saso were involved in the final versions were unclear; their tracks on the Full Sound Version disc sound so similar to Sakimoto's style that I've long suspected those were rearranged by him or at least rerecorded with his synthesizers/samplers. It remains a matter of speculation, but makes me think we shouldn't add the unprinted credits which could potentially be misleading.
(technically speaking, Sakimoto might deserve the credit given the fact he did the conversions to the GBA versions, but as we traditionally didn't consider synthesizer manipulators as arrangers, I removed him too). |

Where do the specific composition credits found in the Notes section come from?

Uematsu's track was confirmed on white. Super Sweep's tracks were revealed on the liner note. Some of them are also properly credited on FFT A2 too.

I see it in the liner notes now. It's weird, I gave it a really honest look before, but was only able to see it after you said it was there. Thanks

Gonna give this a bump... almost every single translation for the track names in this entry differs from the translations for the same track names that appear in Grimoire of the Rift. I think at the very least they should match up. I just tried this now though, and to say that some of the titles don't make any sense to me would be an understatement. Would anyone be willing to tackle these, or at least Tactics Advance? I've listened to this soundtrack quite a bit lately, and it surprised me in how good it was - not spectacular, but definitely a worthwhile listen. I'm a bit surprised I expected any less of Sakimoto... and Ayako Saso's tracks were also ridiculous as always.
I'd appreciate someone looking over these translations. |

Ok, revision time. I'll propagate the changes later if nobody objects.
Basically reverted the tracknames to more popular translations, save a few minor adjustments. The current ones aren't bad (less literal), but some familiarity is good too. The reused tracks would apply to FFT-A2, I'll update that too. Revision:

EDIT: though I said I'd use in 03 "ally" rather than "companion", to not alter too much A2 I'll keep "companion", since it's not so important. Last edited by Dag; Sep 17, 2011 at 10:53 AM. |

Awesome

I've actually seen this translated as 'difficult' before... somewhere... Anyway, whatever you think fits. |

Does anyone know what hardware / instruments are used for the full sound composition? I've read on reviews it's of "Playstation 2 quality" which doesn't really explain. Is a real orchestra involved in any of the tracks?

It's all synthesized, no live instruments. I don't know Sakimoto's previous synthesizer/sampler names were ever revealed until he replaced them by QLSO around FFXII.

Early editions of this came with an entry form to win an 'original CD gift card'. Are there any details about this? It sounds like it might have been one of those card-shaped CDs that were popular for a while. I wonder if it contained any music...
