I totally dig the vocal track (especially A World Without Tears).

Makes me wish: Yasunori Mitsuda should really let Sarah Àlainn perform again on the Chrono Cross arrange album.

Apparently he's not. He said on his blog he is looking for a new English-speaking singer for the album.

Ah, that's interesting. So we're at least going to hear some vocals on the album.

So, did Mitsuda say that currently he has noone that performs vocals on the album? Because maybe he already has Àlainn on board (wishful thinking, I know) and is looking for additional performers.

@Zanasea: Maybe you should drop him a line, telling him to at least consider Àlainn for the CC arrange

Heh, I'm not in contact with him and you can't add comments to his blog

The thing is, I don't think Àlainn would fit the style of the album. Mitsuda said it would not be orchestral at all, but closer to his usual "ethnic" style. Àlainn's voice sounds too classical or operatic for it, I think...

In the same blog post, he said the album should be ready before the end of the year. It's currently his main focus.

Hmm, so it's going more into the direction of CREID? But wasn't Dimension Break also a piece from the CC arrange? That didn't sound like CREID at all. In fact it sounded kinda orchestral.

Anyway, if he's really going for a more ethnic style, then I'm perfectly fine with it. And in this case, like you already pointed out, Àlainn probably would be a good match for the music. If he did reassemble the old Millenial Fair group, well, that would be really awesome.

Hmm, I don't like it when things are rushed. But I think we just have to trust him here

Not anymore. The track was released as Mitsuda's contribution to Play For Japan.

Yeah, I know. But wasn't it supposed to be part/on the CC arrange album? So does the track not reflect in any way the style of the CC arrange album?

Or let it me phrase differently: Was Dimension Break sort of a WIP track that was scratched after Mitsuda rethought the whole style of the album?

I see what you mean. I'm not sure. I believe that, when the sample was posted to his website, most of us thought that was the intention (what else could it have been?) at the time. So, perhaps it was. But I wonder if anyone directly asked Mitsuda about it.

Either way, I would prefer a more Creid or Kirite-like style for Cross. Orchestral just wouldn't do it justice.

(didn't really do Xenogears justice either, but that's neither Mitsuda nor the orchestra's fault ).

I doubt it will. Mitsuda wasn't involved as arranger on Brink of Time, and this time he's probably going to at least direct the sound for the whole album, if not do the majority of the arrangement himself.

More like classical crossover. You almost never hear real classical vocals in VGM.

Mitsuda is a big fan of jazz music (even the soundtrack of CT sounds deeply influenced by jazz) so I'm pretty sure he set the tone for Brink of Time, even if he didn't arrange it. I think it's a very good album, by the way, even if it took me some time to truly appreciate it.

As far as I know, "Dimension Break" was an early arrangement for the Chrono Cross arrange album but I don't know if Mitsuda will keep it for the final disc.

Oh wait, are we talking about this on the thread about Chaos Rings Omega?
