Even more excited for this release. The samples on the game's official website could be some of Tanaka's best game music works yet.

Just changed the artist spelling based on how it is presented on the official game's website:

some tl notes:
1/ like I don't want to invent the names of different "towns", I used their description instead of their name (1.06, 1.19, 1.24, 2.01, 2.02) 2/ I also used names of characters instead of their description (1.12, 1.18) however, "the phantom of Hexa Ville" being a character named Alias, I didn't change this track because it's also the name of an Episode 3/ I omitted ジュシュレ イーブゥル プーレッラ because I have no idea (or vague idea) of what it can be my guess is "Je serai ivre pour elle" but I highly doubt that 4/ I think "Yumemi Salon" is a reference to Siren2 (same creator or director, keiichiro toyama or something) |

I guess Kohei Tanaka is Kouhei Tanaka, if so, he should be at least linked (if not displayed) accordingly.

Linking is done once there is enough proof that the credits are really correct. E.g. when album/booklet scans become available.

The booklet is entirely in Japanese, so there is no romaji spelling for Tanaka's name. Don't have a working scanner at the moment, so I can't upload them, unfortunately.

The more substantial themes in terms of length are better than the shorter themes. Overall, it's enjoyable. Some of it does drag on a bit though, I felt. I'm sure it works wonders in-game though.
Edit: Since there are no romaji spellings at all in the booklet (maybe they are in the credits for the actual game), should we link the artist based on his spelling on the game's official website - Kohei, rather than Kouhei? Last edited by Don; Mar 22, 2012 at 08:51 AM. |

Does this really matter? I mean the main romanization in the artist profile is currently "Kouhei Tanaka", with "Kohei" as variation.

Personally, it doesn't matter to me, but when other artists are credited as their aliases, they are usually linked with their alias. (Masato Koda on the piano collections for NieR, most recently). Just trying to be "consistent" with standard practice.

Typically, if no reading is given by the album packaging, we default to the display name from the artist entry. So that'd be "Kouhei."
(It maaaaaay be worth changing his display name to "Kohei," though. I made it "Kouhei" a few years ago based on his personal website, but that no longer exists, and it seems that in recent works like this and Resonance of Fate he's been favoring Kohei.) |

even if game music is till end of eternity (it could be updated sometime) I'm for using Kohei instead of Kouhei (it'd be like using Youko Kanno) Last edited by Phonograph; Mar 22, 2012 at 04:06 PM. |

Whichever spelling, without him being linked i thought he was a new/unknown artist, that's all.
On the other hand, i'm all for officially provided spelling and all, but isn't the purpose of romanization is to let non-Japanese speakers read, write and pronounce Japanese words and names properly? In this example, in Kohei the "o" appears to be a short vowel (for those who don't know what こう stands for), while it is in fact long. In another example, they use Kouta, Kohta and Kota (all slightly differently pronounced) for こうた. Couldn't we use a pronounciation guide on the artist pages and albums with Japanese names (e.g. Ōkami), based on -preferably- the International Phonetic Alphabet? That way, whatever the currently favored official romanization is, the pronounciation could be -hopefully- less ambiguous. Last edited by DanteLectro; Mar 23, 2012 at 07:00 AM. |

Having listened to the album in full now, I've to say that it really is a mixed bag to me. You were right about the longer themes (some really nice tunes there), but overall the score didn't have enough variation for me. No idea 'bout the ingame context. Gameplay looked kinda fast-paced from the bunch of trailers I saw, so it could actually fit well.

any people who get that album and have a scanner/camera/etc. could make a pic/scan of the lyrics page if possible? (I could post the lyrics here, I can't seem to find a site with lyrics)

Hey CoE,
http://vgmdb.net/db/covers.php?do=view&cover=145735 Are you able to make heads or tails of that? Do we have any context with which to figure out what the name of the song title is supposed to be (in French)? |

I saw the lyrics long ago (some days after the post above)
and it's not french, it's probably a language invented for the game or I don't know (ar tonelico-like) |

Some localization names:
1.06 Auldnoir 1.11 (name is the fortune teller's shop, not sure if it has a loc. name) 1.12 創造主 = "Creator" 1.14 The Ruins 1.18 (not sure if it has loc. name) 1.19 Pleajeune 1.22 The Inferno 1.24 Endstria 1.26 The Hekseville Phantom ("Le fantôme de Hexa Ville" in JP chapter subs) 1.28 The Mirage 2.01 Vendecentre 2.02 Boutoume 2.06 Jellyfish 2.10 (this is a character title like 1.12/1.18 so it could be "Yunica" instead; the intended meaning is probably Sea Wasp) 2.11 Sea Anemone 2.13 this isn't written in the game :/ Btw the JP name for 2.11 should be "Palythoa Toxica", that one could be fixed. |

"Angry Albatross" seems like an odd choice for an official translation considering that the character that the theme is associated with is named "Raven," it can't be in reference to Xii either since they're a crow not an albatross. A very literal translation of "憤怒の黒死鳥" would be something like "Black Death Bird's Anger/Wrath/Rage." "黒死" might be in reference to the Black Death plague ("黒死病") due to the iconic bird-like masks of plague doctors. Thus, something like "Plague Bird's Anger/Wrath/Rage" might be a more natural way to translate it into English while still maintaining the same meaning. However, it's also possible that the official translation might be referring to a metaphorical albatross, as in carrying a heavy burden. That's the only way I can see said translation making any sense.
