So, I'm thinking that maybe we shouldn't allow artist entries unless someone actually has a work in the database that we can link. I seem to recall though that someone had an argument on the other side of the issue (maybe it was Liontamer), which I'd be interested in hearing.

Yeah. People should stop using vgmdb just to promote themselves (*cough*).
Make a name for yourself first, then vgmdb. Not the other way around.

It's for their own good too -- Such suspicious and evident self-promotion will just scare off potential customers. If their work is good it'll speak for itself

To avoid this self-promotion, wouldn't it be better that only trusted editors and staffs could submit new artists?

1 official release (or a complete doujin released in some way) should be the minimum to have an artist page.
