I found a couple of scans on YJA for what I first assumed was a variant of this album, but after looking at the original scans, I think that it's the same one. On the scans with the black cover, you can faintly see the outline of the extra text/pics that is clearly visible on the new scans I uploaded. I think we'll need to find someone who owns this album to tell us what is going on.

Seems like the upper half is some reflective metallic color, which explains the brown hue (it's reflecting the cardboard).

There is no variant version. It is hard to take good pictures of metallic surface, why they appear black. It's the same with e.g. the Atari G.S.M.

The album artwork on this album is really beautiful in person, with the obi, booklet and tray card all being reflective and mirror-like.
