I figured since the Rockman 7 soundtrack had a thread, there should be one for Rockman 8.

Anyway, I just wanted to point out what is perhaps the only (non-omission) flaw with the soundtrack: a missing loop transition.

"Touching off the main assortment of stage themes is the enchanting Ice Stage where the peculiar aspects of Rockman 8's sound become its advantage. That odd seemingly hollow void alluded to above is put to work as the simultaneous chill of merriment and sadness resound throughout the surrounding emptiness. This makes the appearance of the soundtrack's only true recording flaw (the omission of a loop transition) all the more ironic. Though it hardly seems to matter due to the wonderful feeling this track leaves behind, given the source of the audio this time around (CD-ROM) one can only wonder what was trying to be accomplished and why."

Basically the song goes abcd, abcd when it should go abcd, bcd, etc. The very opening is repeated on the loop when it shouldn't; basically it's a recording stacked on top of itself. It kind of goes over your head because it really doesn't sound bad or akward at all.

The only one I knew of before this post was Forest Stage (Searchman), which did the exact opposite (not looping the beginning part, which was indeed looped in the game).

I'm suprised that TEAM Entertainment managed to screw this one up, considering it was the easiest game for them to rip, being already a CD. Somehow that makes Suleputer just a bit better in comparison, but not by much, though.

Oh, and speaking of Frost Man...

And now to disclose what's NOT on the album (because there's nothing else left to say here besides this):

-Megaman 8 Opening
-Sky Stage [Saturn version]
-Cutman Battle [Saturn exclusive]
-Woodman Battle [Saturn exclusive]

Didn't catch that one, I'll have to check it out.

Well, it's not that the media automatically makes it easier to make on OST from. The game source might be a CD, but the music format is still sequenced (except for the Ending themes which are CDA-tracks).

However, the game features a sound test menu... so yeah.

Where are those quotes from if I might ask?

They are shameless plugs from a review I wrote back when the CD's came out. Apparently, I have no shame...

The loop changes are odd but don't ruin things. I actually kinda like Searchman (Forest Stage) better with the abcdbcd style.

The only thing that upsets me are the missing tracks... mostly the (NA?) opening theme, which totally should have been in there. In addition to the Saturn exclusive themes that kyubi listed, the Japanese OP/ED themes are also omitted, but this is likely a licensing issue.

Great! The one track I was anticipating to hear on this game I find out to be a Saturn exclusive!

And it's not even on this soundtrack?!

Mutiny!!

Been meaning to ask this for a while: do I have a bad rip or is the stereo mix slightly off center (to the right)?

Why you make the little info on obi (for example) as a principal title when this even appears on main cover? If "Metal Heroes" was import, they should included on box cover (booklet front)! I don't get it. :/

From the guidelines (about "display name"):
Quote:
This is the name that will appear as the title when the album is displayed.

Generally, the name for an album comes from the title on the Front or the Spine.

Am I the only one who thinks "Sky Stage" sounds suspiciously like Naoshi Mizuta? Hmmm....

So the game's credits say...

Sound Composer (SE) Shinji Amagishi
Sound Composer (BGM) Shusaku Uchiyama
Sound Composer (SYSTEM) Tomoyuki Kawakami

What themes would Tomoyuki Kawakami have composed, or was it non-game stuff like an arrangement of the Capcom jingle?

So I was reading this and MM7's thread, and they are both NOT good jobs. Knowing all their flaws, would you still purchase them for listening? Or just coz you better have a copy in your collection before it's too late to find cheap?
