Was this really composed by "Capcom Sound Team"? Seems odd Capcom would compose for an SNK title, even this one. Also sounds a lot more like older KOF games then any Capcom game.

I couldn't find any definitive proof, but the album is on Capcom's label instead of Scitron/Pony Canyon, which SNK usually used.

GMCL lists Satoshi Ise, Masahiko Hataya, and Yasumasa Yamada as composers, but that might just be a subset of the full composer team.

Interesting, so looks like one Capcom guy (Ise) and two SNK guys. That would make more sense. Wonder which tracks Ise did, since nothing really sounds like CVS. Thanks for the info.

Subtlety is that Masahiko Hataya, Yasuo Yamate, and Yasumasa Yamada created the Arcade version. Satoshi Ise only worked on the Neo Geo version presumably in a porting role. After Capcom realized he was crap at fighting games following Capcom VS SNK 1 & 2, he didn't get many more composing roles.

It's a little strange that an SNK-developed game got a Suleputer-published soundtrack, but SNK were probably in no state to worry about publishing soundtracks and there are many Suleputer soundtracks featuring non-Capcom composers.

Hahaha! I couldn't agree with you less; those soundtracks were both excellent. I made a similar point to someone on the Capcom Unity boards about Marvel vs. Capcom 2's soundtrack. If the music were really that bad, the games wouldn't have been nearly as successful. I can't say I care for SvC: Chaos, but I think you're just projecting a dislike of the other soundtracks into whatever reasoning you want for Ise not being active. Those were solid fighting game soundtracks.

Hmm. Porting doesn't make much sense since the arcade and home hardware are identical, unless you mean the PS2 or Xbox versions.

Do people hate the CVS soundtrack? I love it.

I didn't realize these soundtracks were appreciated by anyone. After reading GoldfishX's review, I assumed they were complete rubbish and never checked them out. I'll listen to them myself and, if I find them any better, write an alternative review. I'm not a fan of some of the Street Fighter III soundtracks so I'm hoping for something a bit better.

Isn't that the point of porting? He's not creating new music -- he's transferring it from arcade to home software, right?

EDIT: Having listened to some of the Capcom VS SNK soundtrack, I was wrong to assume it was absolute crap. It's actually an interesting new direction for a Capcom fighting score and MUCH better than the Street Fighter III scores.

OK, but the 3rd Strike soundtrack (Dreamcast version only) was awesome, and don't you forget it! [/bias]

And not that I'm instilling life lessons, because it isn't that deep, but never judge something you've never actually heard as being good or bad. Otherwise, the loudest mouth wins.

EDIT: from this interview Yasumasa Yamada only did S.E. (like KOF03 I guess).
