Notes

Track 01 - from "FINAL FANTASY II"

Original Music Composed by Nobuo Uematsu
Arranged, Recorded and Mixed by Christian Gulino
Creative Consulted by Kai Ishikawa
Special Thanks: James Ahwai

Arranger's Comment: "I've always loved this melody and the different sections. I also love Lofi music, so it was great fun to combine both. I thought this song deserved a soft sweet production."

Track 02 - from "Seiken Densetsu ~Final Fantasy Gaiden~" (a.k.a FINAL FANTASY ADVENTURE)

Original Music Composed by Kenji Ito
Arranged by Shingo Sekiguchi
Performanced by Shingo Sekiguchi [Guitar and all other instruments]
Artist Management: Mayu Fujisawa (origami PRODUCTIONS)

Arranger's Comment: "As someone who grew up at the height of the Game Boy era, just hearing the first notes of this song is enough to bring a tear to my eye. That made it a difficult arrangement to work on for me, but also one that gave me a great deal of pleasure. There's a simple yet beautiful melody that repeats throughout, built with overlapping harmonies and tones. I hope the lo-fi sounds coupled with the electric guitar will evoke nostalgic feelings, whether you're listening just to relax, or to escape into the Mana universe with a set of good headphones."

Track 03 - from "FINAL FANTASY II"

Original Music Composed by Nobuo Uematsu
Arranged by Michinobu Takarada
Performanced by Michinobu Takarada [Everything]
Special Thanks: West Harlem

Arranger's Comment: "I played a lot of the Square Enix titles of this era, listening to the soundtracks every single day -- so much so that the music became a part of me. Now I have a son who's an avid gamer himself, and when I played my arrangement of this song to him, it put a smile on his face. Seeing that gave me the feels. I'm really thankful for the opportunity to work with this song. Big up!"

Track 04 - from "Makai Toushi Sa·Ga" (a.k.a The Final Fantasy Legend)

Original Music Composed by Nobuo Uematsu
Arranged by Namiko Mori
Performanced by Namiko Mori
Mixing Engineer: Yukihiro Kurusu (PlusOmega,Ltd.)
Mixing Engineer Management: Yuko Takeuchi (PlusOmega,Ltd.),
Kaede Takeshita (PlusOmega,Ltd.)
Special Thanks: BISHOP MUSIC

Arranger's Comment: "I arranged this song during the COVID-19 stay-at-home period here in Japan. Even though I was inside my home the whole time, listening to the loop of the melody gave me the feeling I could take a trip to the town in the song, where the people would be going about their usual business. Next thing, I'd be back home feeling a lot less fatigued. I think this is the perfect song to relax and zone out to."

Track 05 - from "Jikuu no Hasha: Sa·Ga 3" (a.k.a Final Fantasy Legend III)

Original Music Composed by Chihiro Fujioka
Arranged by Botsu
Programming by Botsu
Contains Sample of Final Fantasy Legend III
Original Soundtrack Deep
Mixed by Botsu

Arranger's Comment: "I'm primarily a rapper, so this was a chance to show my instrumental side. I was able to rediscover the charm of PSG audio, and it was fascinating to consider the limitations of that format while I worked. The end result is a weird kind of beat music that I wouldn't normally make. It's like a part of the underwater world from the original song has warped and is taking us on a trip!"

Track 06 - from "Makai Toushi Sa·Ga" (a.k.a The Final Fantasy Legend)

Original Music Composed by Nobuo Uematsu
Arranged by Christian Gulino
Creative Consulted by Kai Ishikawa
Special Thanks: James Ahwai

Arranger's Comment: "This song was really fun to re arrange. I wanted to incorporate different styles that I love. The 80's sound was what I gravitated towards most at the start. As the song evolves you'll hear a mix of chillout, classical, fusion, and reggae."

Track 07 - from "Makai Toushi Sa·Ga" (a.k.a The Final Fantasy Legend)

Original Music Composed by Nobuo Uematsu
Arranged by Joshua Heath at Not So Lonely studios.
Santa Monica, Ca.

Arranger's Comment: "This was an interesting challenge. To only have 8 bit audio as the reference was not what I'm used to. But it allowed me to take a different approach, thinking about orchestration, as though it were a scene from a film score. In the end, I learned something new and am happy with the result!"

Track 08 - from "FINAL FANTASY"

Original Music Composed by Nobuo Uematsu
Arranged by Takuya Yamashita
Recording Engineer: Takuya Yamashita
Mixing Engineer: Takuya Yamashita

Arranger's Comment: "I'm usually more at home making music with a somber tone, so this lively, ocean-going theme with it's great momentum gave me some trouble! I used a jazz guitar for a relaxed feel, then brought in folk instruments as the song develops to evoke images of a cheery harbor town."

Track 09 - from "Jikuu no Hasha: Sa·Ga 3" (a.k.a Final Fantasy Legend III)

Original Music Composed by Ryuji Sasai
Arranged by Chocoholic
Performanced by Chocoholic [All instruments]
Mixing Engineer: Yu Sasaki
Artist Management: Styrism inc.

Arranger's Comment: "I was delighted to be given the chance to arrange this song from the legendary 90's classic SaGa 3 (known as Final Fantasy Legend III in North America). Just listening to the song gave me pangs of nostalgia, and sent me on a journey to a town in a faraway land. I hope listeners get those same feelings from this arrangement!"

Track 10 - from "FINAL FANTASY"

Original Music Composed by Nobuo Uematsu
Remixed by Lord Echo
Performanced by Cory Champion [Brushes + Cymbal], Julien Dyne [Drums]
Recorded at World Of Sound, Berhampore, Wellington
Remixer-Coordinated by Kenji Sakajiri, Wonderful Noise

Arranger's Comment: "I love the music of soundtracks and the simple chords and synthesiser arpeggio of the Final Fantasy theme left a wide scope to work with. In my remix my influence was the music of Angelo Badalamenti, who composed many of the soundtracks to the films of David Lynch and an album of early synthesiser music for a marine documentary by Alessandro Alessandroni. Please enjoy."

Track 11 - from "Sa·Ga 2: Hihou Densetsu" (aka Final Fantasy Legend II)

Original Music Composed by Kenji Ito
Arranged by T-SPICE
Recording Studio: Home
Recording Engineer: T-SPICE
Mixing Engineer: T-SPICE
Artist Management: DEARBRAND PUBLISHING
Special Thanks: Lisa, Moo sevenstar

Arranger's Comment: "I must admit, I hadn't heard this song before, so I imagined myself listening to it while playing a game I was familiar with. For the arrangement, I used the melody to try and convey both the song's charm and its grand scale. In the middle of the song, I pictured a party of heroes crossing a plain as a breeze carries the scents of nature over the drying grass. I was so chilled out while working on the track that I drifted off to sleep on several occasions! It was a fun song to work with."

Track 12 - from "Makai Toushi Sa·Ga" (a.k.a The Final Fantasy Legend)

Original Music Composed by Nobuo Uematsu
Arranged by Takuya Yamashita
Recording Engineer: Takuya Yamashita
Mixing Engineer: Takuya Yamashita

Arranger's Comment: "The original has an energetic marching theme, so it seemed at first glance like it'd be a tricky song to translate to a chilled-out arrangement. But by lowering the tempo and giving the intro an ambient tone, I feel I succeeded in changing the mood of the song."

Track 13 - from "FINAL FANTASY"

Original Music Composed by Nobuo Uematsu
Arranged by Shingo Suzuki
Performanced by Shingo Suzuki [Bass and all other instruments]
Artist Management: Mayu Fujisawa (origami PRODUCTIONS)

Arranger's Comment: "The first thing that struck me about this song was its uncomplicated melody. That said, it's the surprisingly expansive and tricky chord progression that define the song. I kept the melody and chord progression as a set so as to stay true to the original, but I also wanted to contrast the arrangement with the original using tempo and piano work, and deformation in the disruptive timbres and sounds."

Track 14 - from "FINAL FANTASY"

Original Music Composed by Nobuo Uematsu
Arranged by Namiko Mori
Performanced by Namiko Mori
Mixing Engineer: Yukihiro Kurusu (PlusOmega,Ltd.)
Mixing Engineer Management: Yuko Takeuchi (PlusOmega,Ltd.),
Kaede Takeshita (PlusOmega,Ltd.)
Special Thanks: BISHOP MUSIC

Arranger's Comment: "I remember sitting behind my older brother and watching as he played the Final Fantasy games of the 1980's. I've been enraptured by distant fantasy worlds ever since, and their towering castles will always be special places for me. With the "chillout" theme of this compilation in mind, I arranged the song to be less grandiose and more ethereal. And, if you listen closely, you might be able to hear Princess Sarah happily going about her life in the castle after being rescued."

Track 15 - from "Seiken Densetsu ~Final Fantasy Gaiden~" (a.k.a FINAL FANTASY ADVENTURE)

Original Music Composed by Kenji Ito
Arranged by DJ Synthesizer
Recording Studio: 501
Mixing Engineer: DJ Synthesizer
Artist Management: Atari productions inc.

Arranger's Comment: "I wanted to preserve something of the original 8-bit audio in the arrangement, as that pared-down sound really drew me in. I hope people enjoy the blend -- you could even say mismatch -- of classical melody and lo-fi recording."
